Welcome in ‘De Hoek’ Hoek van Holland is a special seaside town. Its location is unique: at the significant North Sea coast and at the start of the New Waterway – the gateway to Rotterdam – where a constant flow of imposing sea-going ships set sail for the Rotterdam port. Hook of Holland not only borders the sea, but also the industrious Westland with its numerous greenhouses. Rain or shine, Hoek van Holland is always pleasant. When the sun is out the lovely beach and the pier are the places to be, but also when the weather is not that cooperative you shall not be bored, for there are many museums; among others the informative Reddingsmuseum Jan Lels Redding museum (Rescue Museum) and the swinging Museum RockArt. Museum RockArt that tells the story of the Dutch pop music. The beach, the dunes and the sea are excellent places for countless activities. Cyclists have many kilometres of comfortable cycle paths at their disposal and walkers can roam the dunes and beach. And, there is no place better suited for (kite) surfing, kayaking, beach-volleyball or beach-football than Hoek van Holland. It is well suited for a nice day out, a weekend break, and an active or relaxing holiday. For, in Hoek van Holland you will find tranquillity and a lively nightlife, as well as fascinating culture alongside the outstretched nature.
Welkom in 'De Hoek' Hoek van Holland is een bijzondere badplaats. De locatie is uniek: aan de belangrijke Noordzeekust en aan het begin van de Nieuwe Waterweg - de toegangspoort tot Rotterdam - waar een constante stroom imposante zeeschepen richting de Rotterdamse haven vaart. Hoek van Holland grenst niet alleen aan de zee, maar ook aan het bedrijvige Westland met zijn talrijke kassen. Regen of zonneschijn, Hoek van Holland is altijd aangenaam. Als de zon op is, zijn het mooie strand en de pier de juiste plekken, maar ook als het weer niet zo'n coöperatie is, zul je je niet vervelen, want er zijn veel musea; onder andere het informatieve Reddingsmuseum Jan Lels Redding museum en het swingende Museum RockArt. Museum RockArt dat het verhaal van de Nederlandse popmuziek vertelt. Het strand, de duinen en de zee zijn uitstekende plekken voor talloze activiteiten. Fietsers hebben vele kilometers aan comfortabele fietspaden tot hun beschikking en wandelaars kunnen door de duinen en het strand dwalen. En er is geen plaats beter geschikt voor (kite) surfen, kajakken, strandvolleybal of strandvoetbal dan Hoek van Holland. Het is zeer geschikt voor een leuk dagje uit, een weekendje weg en een actieve of ontspannen vakantie. Want in Hoek van Holland vindt u rust en een bruisend nachtleven, evenals een fascinerende cultuur langs de uitgestrekte natuur.

The North Pier stretches 4.5 kilometres into the sea (Dutch: Noorderpier or Noorderhoofd).
The pier has, from the gate at the beginning, a length of 1963 meters and the block dam at the end measures 2677 meters.
Hook of Holland, literally Corner of Holland, is a town in the Netherlands situated on the North Sea coast. Each year about 30.000 ships sail by Hoek van Holland.
The Nieuwe Waterweg (New Waterway) is a ship canal. It is the artificial mouth of the river Rhine.

Day 12 of my one month Europe backpacking travel series! In today's travel vlog I'm sharing the best thing to do in Amsterdam. We decided to go on a 7 hour bike ride journey along the country side and beautiful coast of Amsterdam/Holland! It was probably one of the top highlights of this trip for me! Highly recommend you do this if you ever visit the Netherlands!

Gouda Netherlands: Easy Day Trip from Amsterdam
About 50 minutes by train from Amsterdam is Gouda. We visited on a Sunday morning, and few people were out and about. While it is a pretty little town, not too sure I can recommend it as a good day trip from Amsterdam
