One of our favourite towns close to Amsterdam. If your legs allow, you must go by bike. After 15 minutes biking from Noord, you will see the city get transformed into quintessential Dutch countryside: cows, barns, fields, irrigation canals and other cyclists move along beautiful bike paths through the loveliest small towns. Till you get to Marken, the jewel of the crown: a small maritime island that's been later connected to the continent by a long bridge. There you'll see the most unique architecture, a romantic lighthouse and taste some delicious food on the harbour. After Marken, take the ferry to Volendam to continue the adventure.
