Jacksonport is a town in Door County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 738 at the 2000 census. The unincorporated communities of Jacksonport and West Jacksonport are located in the town. Part of Clark Lake is in the Town of Jacksonport.

The park contains the 1872 Jacksonport courthouse which served as the home of county government from 1872-1892. Jacksonport served as an important steamboat stop and trading center at the confluence of the White River and Black River, until being bypassed by the Iron Mountain and Southern Railroad shortly after becoming county seat.

Cemetery Sturgeon Bay Wisconsin

The old family cemetery in Sturgeon Bay Township, Wisconsin. There are hardly any markers left. Originally quite a few of the markers were wooden and these were destroyed after a autumn brushfire. Almost ten years ago a veterans group came in and furnished two new markers and repaired a third. Close to thirty years ago the place was overgrown with weeds and thorns but the local Army Reserve cleaned it up. There have been no burials here since the 1960's as the burial records have been lost. My family only has a few members located here as the family turned the land over to the Township. The Town of Sturgeon Bay did use this location for a while as a potters field. In the video the Veterans markers are clearly visible but you need to look at the foliage to pick out the other graves. Look for the long, wide, green shoots, these areas are where the bodies lie.
