Aurangabad is a city in Maharashtra state, in India. It’s known for the 17th-century marble Bibi ka Maqbara shrine, styled on the Taj Mahal. The nearby Shivaji Maharaj Museum, dedicated to the Maratha king Shivaji, displays war weapons and a coin collection. North of the city, the Aurangabad Caves comprise ancient, rock-cut Buddhist shrines. West of the city, battlements surround the medieval Daulatabad Fort.

1. Panchakki
Hazrat Baba Shah Musafir built Panchakki, a water mill, in 1734. Situated in the vibrant city of Aurangabad, Nehar-e-Panchakki was used to grind grains for the pilgrims. It is essentially a grinding mill that works on water mechanism.
2. Jayakwadi Dam
The harsh project is one of the largest irrigation projects in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is a multipurpose project. The water is mainly used to irrigate agricultural land in the drought-prone Marathwada region of the state. It also provides water for drinking and industrial usage to nearby towns and villages and to the municipalities and industrial areas of Aurangabad and Jalna district. The surrounding area of the dam has a garden and a bird sanctuary.
3. Khuldabad
Khuldabad is a small town located in the Aurangabad district of Maharashtra. It is situated 13 km away from the main city of Aurangabad and 3 km from the world heritage site of Ellora caves. Khuldabad is an important city owing to its religious and historic importance.
4. The Pitalkhora Caves, in the Satamala range of the Western Ghats of Maharashtra, India, are an ancient Buddhist site consisting of 14 rock-cut cave monuments which date back to the third century BCE, making them one of the earliest examples of rock-cut architecture in India. Located about 40 kilometers from Ellora, the site is reached by a steep climb down a flight of concrete stairs, past a waterfall next to the caves.
5. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj museum
One of the main tourist attractions in Aurangabad, Chhatrapati Shivaji Museum is located near Nehru Bal Udyan and as the name suggests it is dedicated to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the great Maratha ruler. War weapons and other antique items of the former rulers of Maratha Empire are put here for public viewing.
6. Grishneshwar Temple
A kilometer long walk away from Ellora caves, the 18th century temple of one of the five Jyothirlingas of Lord Shiva in Maharashtra and 12 of that in India, holds great gathers much significance from its visitors.
7. Daulatabad Fort
Located 15 km away from the main city of Aurangabad, Daulatabad Fort is an ancient fortification that rises formidably from the midst of verdant greenery. Often hailed as one of the 'seven wonders of Maharashtra', this architectural marvel is believed to have been built in the 12th century.
8. Ellora Caves
Ajanta and Ellora caves are considered to be one of the most important tourist destinations in the world owing to the magnificent paintings of Ajanta and well-carved sculptures of Ellora. The rock-cut caves containing carvings are the finest example of Indian paintings and sculpture.
9. Bibi Ka Maqbara
Having a striking resemblance to Taj Mahal, the Bibi ka Maqbara is a beautiful mausoleum of Rabia- Ul - Daurani alias Dilras Banu Begum, the wife of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.
10. Ajanta Caves
Located around 99 km from the town of Aurangabad, lie the Ajanta Caves now included in the list of UNESCO World heritage Sites. Ajanta caves depict the Buddhist culture and their stories through various sculptures and paintings. It also takes you to the world of Jatakas.

Lonar lake...An ancient mythological crater lake of India
The Lonar crater is the world's only salt water lake in basaltic rock, believed to have been caused by a meteorite hitting Earth around 52,000 years ago. It is surrounded by forests with a large variety of birds, particularly peacocks, owls, red-wattled lapwings and ducks.
Lonar has its own ecological system. As the sun sets, the entire lake appears differently. The lake water sweeps across the shore like sea water, and the birds, wolves, peacocks and other creatures start making their presence felt. It is a wonderful scene to watch the sun rising or setting below the lake walls. The lake has a remarkable presence of splinters of glass confirming the meteorite's impact, which caused the enormous temperature rise thereby turning the sand into glass.
Numerous temples surround the lake, around the rim of the crater and further down around the lake, most of which stand in ruins today, except for the temple of Daitya Sudan at the centre of the Lonar town, which was built in honour of Vishnu's victory over the giant Lonasur. It is a fine example of early Hindu architecture. Vishnumandir, Wagh Mahadev, Mora Mahadev, Munglyacha Mandir and Goddess Kamalaja Devia are the other temples found inside the crater.
The nearest train stations are Shegaon near Khamgaon and Malkapur near Bhusawal railway-junction, on the Mumbai-Bhusawal-Nagpur route of Central Railway of Indian Railways and is around 100 km from Lonar. Buses also run to Lonar from Nagpur, Akola, Buldhana, Malkapur and Jalna.
If travelling from Nagpur, one must take a bus till Mehkar near Washim and then head to Lonar. From Mumbai or Pune, the most convenient route is to first reach Aurangabad via bus (Mumbai and Pune) or train/flight (from Mumbai only) and then take a state transport bus to Lonar. From Pune, air-conditioned and regular buses run every hour from the Shivajinagar bus stand to Aurangabad.
Maharashtra Tourism runs a resort just 50 meters from the lake. This property is modern, well maintained and cheap. There also are several low cost and simple accommodations called lodges available in the town.
The food available in Lonar has influence from both Khandesh and Marathwada cuisines. It is unique and simple but spicy.

Ajanta Caves/Aurangabad:
The Ajanta Caves in Aurangabad district of Maharashtra state of India are about 30 rock-cut Buddhist cave monuments which date from the 2nd century BCE to about 480 or 650 CE.The caves include paintings and sculptures described by the government Archaeological Survey of India as the finest surviving examples of Indian art, particularly painting, which are masterpieces of Buddhist religious art, with figures of the Buddha and depictions of the Jataka tales. The caves were built in two phases starting around the 2nd century BCE, with the second group of caves built around 400–650 CE according to older accounts, or all in a brief period of 460 to 480 according to the recent proposals of Walter M. Spink. The site is a protected monument in the care of the Archaeological Survey of India, and since 1983, the Ajanta Caves have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
With the Ellora Caves, Ajanta is the major tourist attraction of the Marathwada region of Maharashtra. About 59 kilometres (37 miles) from Jalgaon railway station on the Delhi – Mumbai line and Howrah-Nagpur-Mumbai line of the Central Railway zone, and 104 kilometres (65 miles) from the city of Aurangabad. They are 100 kilometres (62 miles) from the Ellora Caves, which contain Hindu and Jain temples as well as Buddhist caves, the last dating from a period similar to Ajanta. The Ajanta caves are cut into the side of a cliff that is on the south side of a U-shaped gorge on the small river Waghur, and although they are now along and above a modern pathway running across the cliff they were originally reached by individual stairs or ladders from the side of the river 10–35 m (30–110 ft) below.
The area was previously heavily forested, and after the site ceased to be used the caves were covered by jungle until accidentally rediscovered in 1819 by a British officer on a hunting party. They are Buddhist monastic buildings, apparently representing a number of distinct monasteries or colleges. The caves are numbered 1 to 28 according to their place along the path, beginning at the entrance. Several are unfinished and some barely begun and others are small shrines, included in the traditional numbering as e.g. 9A; Cave 15A was still hidden under rubble when the numbering was done. Further round the gorge are a number of waterfalls, which when the river is high are audible from outside the caves.
The caves form the largest corpus of early Indian wall-painting; other survivals from the area of modern India are very few, though they are related to 5th-century paintings at Sigiriya in Sri Lanka.The elaborate architectural carving in many caves is also very rare, and the style of the many figure sculptures is highly local, found only at a few nearby contemporary sites, although the Ajanta tradition can be related to the later Hindu Ellora Caves and other sites.Wikipedia

It is said that on Full Moon nights this place is very much haunted. According to an old story, this fort is haunted by the ghost of a prince who was brutally assassinated when he was 13 year old by one of his relative. His ghost can be heard shrieking in the middle of the night.
4) Johnson & Johnson Road (Mumbai)
The Signal at Johnson & Johnson Mulund is one of the centers of paranormal activity. A lady in white sari haunt this lane and has been the cause of numerous accidents, especially on New Moon nights. While most accidents are fatal, those who survived, said that they were only trying to save a lady in white and that’s the last bit they remember!
5) Parsi Graveyard (Nagpur)

People have reported illness for upto a week after visiting this place, many have also reported strange sightings of human like figures and eerie voices that chases them away. of Mumbai was closed in the 80's and is now haunted with stories of ghosts. Many films have been shot in and around the vicinity of this mill. According to the sources, once during a shoot an actress herself was possessed by a spirit and started speaking in a masculine voice. Deserted and ruined, Mukesh Mills is a ready made set for horror films. Many directors, actors, and producers refuse to work here past sunset considering the Mill to be haunted.
9) Raj Kiran hotel(Lonavala)
There is a particular room on the ground floor of this hotel, where guests have reported their bed sheets had been pulled off while they slept. Some have woken up in the middle of the night with blue light at their feet.Some of them have woken up in the midst of dark nights with a ray of blue light at their feet. These people have gone through mental therapies after staying in that room.
10) Mumbai-Nashik Highway(Kasara Ghat)
A particular area on the Mumbai-Nashik Highway passing through Kasara Ghat is said to be haunted by several paranormal entities. People have reported seeing an old headless lady, who suddenly comes in front of the vehicle, causing many accidents.

1) Mumbai-Nashik Highway(Kasara Ghat)

2) Khandobachi Tekadi
Legend has it that the place was earlier haunted by two demons named Mani and Malla who used their evil powers to harass people. Then lord Shiva came in the incarnation of lord Khandoba and fought with these demons and killed them.
3) Morgue Devlali
This morgue is situated in Devlali near Temple Hill. Most morgues are located within the hospital premises, however this particular morgue in Devlali is at a distance from the hospital. Locals say the place is haunted and can hear strange voices and a woman screaming in pain at night.
4) Chandwad
People have reported seeing a woman, who asks for lift from the vehicles passing through this place. The scary part comes when the woman suddenly disappears.
5) Dev’s Arcade
This place was among the first mini mall in Nashik. In the beginning, the mall got a good response from people. This mall mysteriously shut down and sources say that people have experienced paranormal incidences here. People usually do not enter this place after night, a few who dared were found unconscious in the morning.
6) Rane Nagar
The murder mystery at one of the house in Rane Nagar still remains unsolved. The house is now haunted by the victims spirit, strange phenomena like sudden drop in temperature and strange noises have been heard.
7) Nasardi Bridge
According to an old legend, people have seen a women dressed in white sari walking late at night on Nasardi bridge. People say that, they hear their names being called when they are walking alone but find no one when they look back.
8) Unconstructed Building (near Splendour hall)
This place is said to be haunted. People have experienced paranormal activities and according to some 'they had unpleasant experiences and felt the presence of Supernatural beings'.
9) Triyambakeshwar
Aghoris practice Tantra Sadhna in graveyards in three ways – Shamshan Sadhna, Shiv Sadhna and Shav Sadhna. After the Shav Sadhna is complete, the dead body starts to speak up. Common people are not permitted to be a part of this Sadhna. The Aghoris perform this tantra Sadhna in 4 unique graveyards where the results of their prayers are 100%. In these four graveyards, the ghosts actually speak to Aghoris. Triyambakeshwar Jyotirling is one such place. It is situated in Nashik in Maharashtra. Lord Shiva is known as the king of Tantra Shastra. He is the originator of Tantra and Aghoris both.
10) Makhmalabad Road
This road is haunted by the spirit of a woman. People have heard screams of this woman on several occasions and according to some locals she can be seen running on the street and then suddenly disappears as fog in the middle of night.
