Kannur District is one of the 14 districts along the west coast in the state of Kerala, India. The town of Kannur is the district headquarters and gives the district its name. The old name, Cannanore is the anglicised form of the Malayalam name Kannur. Kannur district is bounded by Kasaragod District to the north, Kozhikode district to the south and Wayanad District to the southeast.     Thabore is a hill top village in Kannur district in the Indian state of Kerala. Some parts of Thabore comes under Udayagiri, Kerala gram panchayat and the rest under Cherupuzha gram panchayat. Tourists come here to see scenic beauty of the hill station. A statue of Jesus Christ has been recently installed on the hilltop which attracts a large number of tourists. Nearby places include Udayagiri, Thirumeni, Chathamangalam and Kozhichal. It is also a popular place for hill drivers. The altitude is about 2,000 m above sea level.     Talakaveri is the place that is generally considered to be the source of the river Kaveri. It is located by Brahmagiri hill near Bhagamandala in Kodagu district, Karnataka bordering Kasarkod district of Kerala. It stands at a height of 1,276 m. above sea level. However, there is not a permanent visible flow from this place to the main rivercourse except during the Monsoon. A tank or kundike has been erected on a hillside by kodavas, at the place that is said to be the origin. It is also marked by a small temple, and the area is frequented by pilgrims mainly it is the worship place of kodavas.
