Kapfenberg [ˈkapfənbɛʁk], with around 23,059 inhabitants, is the third largest city in Styria, Austria, near Bruck an der Mur. The town's landmark is Burg Oberkapfenberg. Its main employer is the steel manufacturer Böhler. The town has a swimming complex, a football stadium used by the club Kapfenberger SV, and an ice rink. The Kapfenberg Bulls is a team in the Österreichische Basketball Bundesliga, the highest professional basketball league in Austria. In 1970, Kapfenberg hosted the European Team Chess Championship, which was won by the Soviet Union.

Admont Abbey is a Benedictine monastery located on the Enns River in the town of Admont, Austria. The oldest remaining monastery in Styria, Admont Abbey contains the largest monastic library in the world as well as a long-established scientific collection. It is known for its Baroque architecture, art, and manuscripts. The abbey's location on the borders of the mountainous Gesäuse National Park is of unusual scenic beauty.

At that time a castle was also built at this location for the sponsor of the monastery, Leopold The Pious. In addition to its fine sacred architecture the Stift Klosterneuburg enchants due to its worldly side that can b`e seen in the emperor’s private rooms which demonstrate the luxurious lifestyle of the Habsburgers whose influence was at its zenith during the reign of Karl The Sixth. The monastery’s most valuable possession and also one of the most impressive works of art of the Middle Ages is the Verduner Altar that was named after the artist, Nikolaus Of Verdun, and was completed in 1181. The large quantity of precious works of religious art and fascinating historic objects that date from the Habsburger Dynasty underline the feeling that the Stift Klosterneuburg is indeed a place where the sky meets with the earth!

Mountain River in Austria - Steyrdurchbruch

The beautiful river Steyr makes its path through a dramatic gorge, the Steyrdurchbruch in Upper Austria, where one of the oldest hydroelectric power plants in Austria sits. A well-kept Memorial of industrial history. Nowadays, lots of paddlers, canoes, and kayaks are riding the river.

You can get there from either Steyr, then following the river towards Molln, or from the highway A9 exit Klaus, and then follow the signs towards Molln / Steyrdurchbruch.
