Khanty-Mansiysk is a town and the administrative center of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Russia. It is located on the eastern bank of the Irtysh River, 15 kilometers from its confluence with the Ob, in the oil-rich region of Western Siberia. Khanty-Mansiysk is an independent city, but is the administrative center of Khanty-Mansiysky District. Khanty-Mansiysk is one of the few administrative centers of a federal subject in Russia that is not the largest in the territory, with the city of Surgut being the largest in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug.     The Russian Orthodox Church , alternatively legally known as the Moscow Patriarchate , is one of the autocephalous Eastern Orthodox churches, since 15 October 2018 not in communion with the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople.
