Killeshandra or Killashandra - Irish place name Cill na Seanrátha meaning Church of the Old Rath , population 1,143, is a small town in County Cavan, Ireland. It is 20 km northwest of Cavan town and central to County Cavan's lakeland and geopark region, in the unique Erne catchment environment of rivers, lakes, wetlands and woodland. Together with the Lough Oughter Special Protected Area , it has been recognised by the EU programme for wildlife Natura 2000 since 2010. Brú na Bóinne or Boyne valley tombs, is an area in County Meath, Ireland, located in a bend of the River Boyne. It contains one of the world's most important prehistoric landscapes dating from the Neolithic period, including the large Megalithic passage graves of Knowth, Newgrange and Dowth as well as some 90 additional monuments. The archaeological culture associated with these sites is called the Boyne culture. Since 1993 the site has been a World Heritage Site designated by UNESCO, known since 2013 as Brú na Bóinne - Archaeological Ensemble of the Bend of the Boyne.

Pike fishing Ireland 2019

Welcome back!
On Easter Monday together with my brother we went out pike fishing on the same river that goes thru our town but 40 miles further.
We were amazed to see some nice pikes there.
Holy cross at the start is situated in Clonmel, ant the Abbey and Pope statue that's actual Holycross town.
Day permits obtained in Holycross Abbey pub. 15e a day.
Nice place to visit with some nice fish.

The Derelict Haunted Convent in Monchique, Algarve

The convent of Nossa Senhora do Desterro, Our Lady of Exile, was founded in 1631 by Pêro da Silva, who later became the vice-Roy of India. According to legend, the founding of the convent was due to a promise made by two sailors at sea who swore to build a church at the first site of Portuguese land.

We visited this in March 2013. An unusual place to stumble upon and a great view of the surrounding countryside.
