Kinston High School is a high school located in Kinston, North Carolina, United States. It is the largest school in the Lenoir County Public School System, serving approximately 1,200 students. Kinston High was built in the 1970s as an integrated high school to serve the city. The International Baccalaureate programme started at Kinston High during the 2003-2004 school year. In fall 2004, Kinston High School was the first school in Lenoir County to start up a program called Advancement Via Individual Determination .     The 1928 Fort Pierce hurricane devastated areas of Florida and the Southeastern United States in August 1928. The first tropical cyclone and hurricane of the annual hurricane season, the storm developed from a tropical wave first identified on August 3, 1928, north of the Virgin Islands. Slowly intensifying as it moved west-northwest, the system paralleled the Greater Antilles throughout much of its early existence. On August 5, the tropical storm strengthened to the equivalent of a Category 1 hurricane, while positioned over The Bahamas.
