Kleinwalsertal is a part of Mittelberg, Vorarlberg, Austria. It is part of the Bregenz district and due to the geographic location in the Allgäu Alps with its alpine terrain, the Kleinwalsertal has no direct traffic connection to the rest of Vorarlberg. It is accessible only via Oberstdorf, Germany, to the north, and thus is an Austrian practical exclave or pene-exclave. Prior to Austria joining the European Union, the area had tax-free status. A mountain coaster or alpine coaster is a type of roller coaster with bobsled-like cars on tracks installed on a mountain. It is similar to alpine slides where a low-wheeled sled is used to navigate the track, but instead of running over smooth concave tracks like the alpine slide, alpine coasters run on rails with up-stop wheels like traditional roller coasters. Thus, an alpine coaster isn't necessarily safer due to the jerky movements the cart makes as it navigates its way on a fixed track. Four Amazing days biking and climbing in the wonderful Austrian Town of Mittelberg. We take on an epic 10 hour hike up to the Fiderepasshütte hut and across the 5 hour Mindelheimer Klettersteig. We ebike up Walmendinger Horn mountain and were lucky to enjoy the middle age tradition of bringing the cows down from the mountain for the winter months.

We stayed at Camping Vorderboden, a lovely site right among the mountains with a bus stop right outside. The village of Baad is a 10 minute walk away, where there is a great traditional place to eat at the Kuhstall restaurant.
