The La Paz Department of Bolivia comprises 133,985 square kilometres with a 2012 census population of 2,706,359 inhabitants. It is situated at the western border of Bolivia, sharing Lake Titicaca with adjacent Peru. It contains the mighty Cordillera Real that reaches altitudes of 6.6 kilometers . Northeast of the Cordillera Real are the Yungas, the steep eastern slopes of the Andes Mountains that make the transition to the Amazon River basin to the northeast. The capital of the department is the city of La Paz and is the administrative city and seat of government / national capital of Bolivia.

  • 1. Yungas Road La Paz
    The North Yungas Road is a road leading from La Paz to Coroico, 56 kilometres northeast of La Paz in the Yungas region of Bolivia. In 1995 the Inter-American Development Bank named it as the world's most dangerous road. In 2006, one estimate stated that 200 to 300 travellers were killed yearly along the road. The road includes cross markings on many of the spots where vehicles have fallen.The South Yungas Road connects La Paz to Chulumani, 64 kilometres east of La Paz, and is considered to be nearly as dangerous as the North Road.

    Mi Teleférico , also known as Teleférico La Paz–El Alto , is an aerial cable car urban transit system serving the La Paz–El Alto metropolitan area in Bolivia. As of September 2018, the system consists of 25 stations along eight lines: Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, Orange, White, Sky Blue, and Purple.
