La Tzoumaz is a ski resort in the Swiss Alps, in the canton of Valais. It is part of the Four Valleys ski area, which consists of various ski resorts, including Verbier, Nendaz, Veysonnaz, La Tzoumaz, and Thyon. As such it has direct access to over 400 km of runs. Named after the word tzoumer, meaning taking a break, La Tzoumaz nestles against the same mountain as Verbier, Mont Savolyres, and is at the same altitude . However, unlike Verbier, it is situated on North-facing slopes and hence enjoys a longer ski-season, lasting from early December all the way through to late-April. Lauterbrunnen is a village and a municipality in the Interlaken-Oberhasli administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. The municipality comprises the major Lauterbrunnen Valley , the Soustal, the Sefinental, the upper Lauterbrunnen Valley with Untersteinberg including several glaciers, such as the Tschingelfirn and the Rottalgletscher, many Alpine meadows and peaks, such as Schilthorn, Bietenhorn, Schwarzmönch, and Silberhorn, and finally the villages Lauterbrunnen, Wengen, Mürren, Gimmelwald, Stechelberg, and Isenfluh, and several hamlets. The population of the village Lauterbrunnen is less than that of Wengen, but larger than that of the others.

En automne, les jours deviennent de plus en plus courts et la température baisse. Il gèle durant la nuit et la première neige poudre les sommets. Certains sentiers requièrent plus d’attention

La Tzoumaz to Bonatchiesse

On Monday we hiked from Chalet La Luge in La Tzoumaz to Cabane de Louvie with 1398m of climbing and 787m of descending. We stayed the night at Cabane de Louvie which is in a stunning location and then on Tuesday we moved on to Cabane de Chanrion at the end of Lac de Mauvoisin with 1882m of climbing and 1647m of descending. Cabane do Chanrion was busy but we had a good meal and enjoyed our stay. Wednesday we headed back hiking the other side of Lac de Mauvoisin to Bonatchiesse with1073m of climbing and 1886m of descending. We had a well deserved drink and ice cream in the sunshine at the Cafe de la Promenade while we waited for the bus that took us to Le Chable. We met up with Alex at Le Chable who kindly drove us up to Verbier and then over the Croix de Coeur back to La Tzoumaz. After a quick shower we went to Chez Alex (Bar des Etablons) and sunk a few glasses!
