Laem Chabang Thailand Cruise Port Terminal Tour & Info (4K)
See what the cruise port of Laem Chabang (Thai: แหลมฉบัง) looks like- the gateway to Pattaya and Bangkok. We were at Laem Chabang in March 2018 as part of our 14 day Asia cruise aboard the Majestic Princess (aka 盛世公主号). Take a tour of the inside of the terminal building, where there is plenty of local shopping inside.
Getting off the ship, you will need the cruise card, arrival card, and passport. In the Laem Chabang Thailand Cruise Port Terminal building, Thailand Immigration does a full mandatory immigration inspection, and everyone has to attend even if you are staying on the ship. The cruise line (in our case, Princess Cruises) will then re-collect your passports while you can go on shore with just the copy.
For us, the arrival time was 8:30 AM while all aboard was 6:30 PM. We chose not to go to Bangkok because it is a 3+ hour drive there one way, so we do a DIY excursion and went to visit Pattaya instead which was about 45 minutes one way. Taxi there is $60 USD, but we chose the sightseeing option where the driver will drop us off at our destinations in Pattaya and wait for us. That was $110, but we were able to convince them to do it for $90. We visited the Sanctuary of Truth (see our video: the museum Art in Paradise, and had a bit of free time in the Pattaya streets. =======================

$1 moto taxi rides.
I went everywhere via tuk tuk or moto taxi and never paid more than $1 for a trip. Sometimes the tuk tuks on the riverfront will insist on $2 for a short journey.
Phnom Penh is not a place to wander around alone late at night, even around the tourist areas. Cambodia is a much poorer country than Thailand, and reports of incidents against tourists/expats often are suppressed in the news.
Street 136
Some ladies in the Phnom Penh hostess bars are only there for lady drinks, particularly the prettier ladies under 25 years old. It's best to know the score before you start buying them loads of drinks. Other times some girls will only go with Asian customers (eg. Korean, Japanese).
I heard a story about a Phnom Penh hostess bar where a Western guy bought a nice hostess 5 lady drinks, but in the end she wouldn't go to his hotel as she was only a drinks girl. He was really pissed off and was telling everyone about it...

Royal Caribbean Asian Cruise: Port of Laem Chabang for Bangkok
Know in advance that Laem Chabang is referred to as “The Gateway to Bangkok” by Royal Caribbean, technically correct but Bangkok is a minimum of a two hour drive in each direction which puts the kibosh on visiting if passengers have already been and done it.
Located about 25 kilometers/15 miles north of Pattaya, there is a small shopping center (Harbor Mall)on the main road by the entrance to the port with a Tesco/Lotus Supermarket and approximately a two mile walk from the pier. For passengers who have extensively toured Bangkok before (like us), the only other places of interest are: the beach resort of Pattaya or Laem Chabang International Country Club Golf Course.

The main sweep of the bay area is divided into two principal beachfronts. Pattaya Beach is parallel to city centre, and runs from Pattaya Nuea south to Walking Street. Along Beach Road are restaurants, shopping areas, and night attractions.
Jomtien Beach in the southern part of the bay area is divided from Pattaya beach by the promontory of Pratamnak Hill. It consists of high-rise condominiums, beachside hotels, bungalow complexes, shops, bars, and restaurants. On weekends, it becomes increasingly crowded, with many Thai visitors coming from Bangkok. It offers of watersport activities such as jet skis, parasailing and small sail boat hire. The Pratumnak Hill area is gaining in popularity for its beach as it is a quieter area and it has a lot of new hotel and condominium resorts in development around the area reflecting on growing demand.
Offshore islands include the Near Islands, Ko Larn (main island), Ko Sak and Ko Krok located 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) from the western shores of Pattaya Ko Larn, or Coral Island, Mu Ko Phai, the Far Islands, Ko Phai (main island), Ko Man Wichai, Ko Hu Chang and Ko Klung Badan, located offshore further west of the Near Islands, and Ko Rin, located offshore to the southwest, south of Mu Ko Phai. Some of the islands in the group are accessible by speedboat in less than 15 minutes and by ferry taking about 45 minutes. The names Near Islands, Far Islands and Coral Island are used for touristic purposes only and do not correspond to any naming conventions of the island groups and are not shown on maritime charts published by the Hydrographic Service of the Royal Thai Navy. Many of the islands have public beaches and offer scuba diving activities.
