Lauenburg , or Lauenburg an der Elbe , is a town in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is situated on the northern bank of the river Elbe, east of Hamburg. It is the southernmost town of Schleswig-Holstein and belongs to the Kreis of Herzogtum Lauenburg. Lauenburg had a recorded population on 31 December 2013 of 11,253.

1. HANSA-PARK Sierksdorf
Hansa-Park is a seasonal amusement park in Sierksdorf off the Baltic Sea. It was opened on May 15, 1977 under the name Hansaland and renamed Hansa-Park in 1987. It currently spans 113 acres and includes more than 125 attractions. From 1973 to 1976, the site was home to the first German Legoland. The park is owned by the Leicht family and managed by Christoph Andreas Leicht. The park attracts more than a million visitors each year, making it the fifth largest German amusement park. Stern magazine, in collaboration with the BAT Freizeit-Forschungsinstitut tested the ten leading German amusement parks. Hansa-Park scored second place behind Europa-Park overall and first place in the north. The Family Park on the Sea was the first German amusement park to receive the OK for Kids seal of approva...

The Hanseatic City of Lübeck is the second-largest city in Schleswig-Holstein, in northern Germany, and one of the major ports of Germany. It was for several centuries the capital of the Hanseatic League (Queen of the Hanse) and because of its Brick Gothic architectural heritage is on UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites. In 2005 it had a population of 213,983.

Situated at the Trave River, Lübeck is the largest German port on the Baltic Sea. The old part of the town is an island enclosed by the Trave. The Elbe-Lübeck Canal connects the Trave with the Elbe River. Another important river near the town centre is the Wakenitz. Autobahn 1 connects Lübeck with Hamburg and Denmark (Vogelfluglinie). The borough Travemünde is a sea resort and ferry port at the coast of the Baltic Sea. Its central station links Lübeck with a number of lines, notably the line to Hamburg.

Riding the Rail from Lüneburg Germany to Bleckede, 2015 REI Toy Fair Tour

REYNAULDS.COM present a nice video and a most enjoyable train excursion from Lüneburg Germany to Bleckede. During our stay in Hamburg we got the opportunity to meet with the Bleckede Kleinbahn Club, this was made possible by our repair guy Leif who is a member of this club. We took a modern double decker Metronom train from Hamburg to Luneburg where we were picked
up by three of the club members. After visiting their locomotive shed we boarded our train which was specially arranged for our tour. The train consisted of an old class 230 41 diesel locomotive with drive rods and a salon car. In the salon car they served us tea, coffee and hot spiced wine and also hot sausages, now that's how to travel. What a great day!

After getting clearance from the Lüneburg signal tower we cut across the Lüneburg freight yard till we reached the club’s private tracks. Since we were riding on private tracks we had many opportunities to stop and film the train, we even filmed a few drive byes. After about an hour we reached Bleckede where we had the rare opportunity to get a guided tour through the repair and maintenance facility. The maintenance facility repairs all different kind of locomotives. They even have a manual turntable where our guys had the chance to turn our little diesel loco around.

The engineer of the The little class 230 41 diesel not only operates the diesel he is the the owner of this little jewel. He completely restored this locomotive, he spent countless hours and the result is superb. The class 230 41 is a GEM. We had a lot of fun on this excursion which is expressed through the song sounded off by the group – “I’ve been working on the railroad”.

We want to thank Leif and all our friends at the Bleckede Kleinbahn Club for there hospitality and for all the arrangements. The train ride was most memorable!!
