A Short Visit to Jakarta, Indonesia
On the 13th April 2019, we had a short trip to Jakarta, Indonesia. Though the trip was short but we enjoyed the trip, specially the train journey from the Soekarno Hatta International airport to the city center (Sudirman Baru station). It was the last day of their presidential election campaign and for that reason traffic on the roads was too slow or stand-still in many places. It took us an hour to reach our hotel which is only a few kilometers from Sudirman Baru station.

Indonesia | Jokowi's Vision [Bloomberg interview]
Indonesia's President Joko Widodo has promised to build infrastructure as the foundation of his plan to boost the economy and lure investors. In this exclusive interview from Bloomberg, Jokowi shows the progress of his big vision for the nation.
The president has primarily focused on infrastructure, introducing or restarting long-delayed programs to build highways, high-speed rail, airports and other facilities to improve connectivity in the Indonesian archipelago. On foreign policy, his administration has placed an emphasis on protecting Indonesia’s sovereignty, with the sinking of illegal foreign fishing vessels and the prescription of capital punishment for drug smugglers, despite intense pressure from foreign powers including Australia and France. After four years in office, Jokowi's approval ratings remain high, in the high-60s to low-70s. He will seek re-election in 2019.

Java Indonesia. Temples, Traffic and Trains
A Quick Trip To Java. In hindsight I should have flown straight from Medan to Yogyakarta as Jakarta had nothing to offer a person who doesn't like cities to start with. Medan was awful and Jakarta wasn't much better. Just bigger. Sorry to those who live there,(no I really am, it must be dreadful) but I couldn't wait to get out. I was gutted when I went to buy the train ticket, only to find they were sold out for the day I wanted to travel. Ended up spending an extra night in the city. That sucked!
