Hidden Place de Furstenberg (Paris, France)
This is a private courtyard at 6, rue de Furstenberg in the sixth arrondissement of Paris. (METROS: SAINT-GERMAIN-DES-PRES, MABILLON)
Place de Furstenberg is the smallest place in Paris and is very pretty.
On most days except Mondays and Tuesdays, you can enter the courtyard here and visit the Musée National Eugène Delacroix, which charges admission, but if you go on the first Sunday of the month as I did, entrance is free. This was his last residence and workshop, and he died here in 1863. He lived in several places in Paris but was here because his health had been poor most of his life, and he needed to be closer to Saint-Eustache, where he was working on a chapel.
It's been a genuine struggle over the decades to keep this place preserved, and around 1929, a parking garage was planned here. Friends of Delacroix, and artists such as Denis and Signac tried their best to keep the place rented and as intact as possible, although it was a losing battle and most of the artwork, furnishings, books and other things were sold over the years out of necessity. Some were re-acquired, however, and you can see them here.
There is a small garden in the back here which is included in the admission, and also a bookstore/shop. Works by other artists such as Colin, Huet, Riesener, Gericault etc. are also inside. I had often passed this place and not visited. Not until 2004 did the museum become part of the Louvre. Art and history buffs will enjoy this place, I think, but I found it also of interest for its architectural aspects.

In the island of Thasos, Greece.
An island with crystal beaches and lush greenery, Thassos in Greece is the northernmost island of the Aegean Sea, very close to the coasts of the mainland. Ideal for family and relaxing holidays, Thassos island has gorgeous beaches, either organized or totally secluded. The mountainous villages in the inland have traditional architecture, with stone houses, paved streets and grey-tiled roofs. The surrounding landscape is great for trekking with paths leading to abandoned places, castle ruins and caves.
Chrisi Ammoudia (Golden Beach) has one of the most beautiful and popular beaches with golden sand and shallow turquoise waters. It is located on the east coast of Thasos, between the villages of Skala Panagias and Skala Potamias.
The beach is long and wide and has fine sand. Its length is 5 Km and the options for your daily escape are many. The water is shallow and the beach has facilities for water sports. The beach has been awarded with Blue Flags.
Makryammos Beach is located in northern Thassos and its distance from Limenas is 2km. It is a sandy organized beach with shoal waters, ideal for children. Additionally, it has been awarded with a blue flag.
Makryammos is a private beach which belongs to the so-called hotel resort. For you access you will have to pay an admission fee. The beach is surrounded by the facilities and accommodation of the hotel.
Giola lagoon is separated from the sea by a narrow strip of rocks, it looks like a pool of crystal clear water, carved into a coral reef that rises above it.
Those who have visited Giola say it is a piece of heaven on Earth, remote and inaccessible. It is located near the village of Astris but it is impossible to travel by car, so the locals are absolutely necessary to guide you there. When you dive into the warm waters of the lagoon you’ll know that the exhausting trip was so worth it.
San Antonio is a large beach located next to Potos beach. It has greenblue shallow waters and golden sand. You can enjoy your swim here, and your coffee or juice at the local beach bars.
