Marquartstein is a municipality in the southeastern part of Bavaria, Germany and is part of the Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Marquartstein and Staudach-Egerndach. It is situated in a region called Chiemgau, approximately 10 km south of Lake Chiemsee between Munich and Salzburg. Most of the area is situated in the valley of the river Tiroler Achen, which separates the village into two parts. Marquartstein is at the edge of the Alps. Its geographical location is 47°46′N 12°28′E.

Chiemsee is a freshwater lake in Bavaria, Germany, near Rosenheim. It is often called the Bavarian Sea. The rivers Großache and Prien flow into the lake from the south, and the river Alz flows out towards the north. The Alz flows into the Inn which then merges with the Danube. The Chiemsee is divided into the bigger, north section, in the northeast, called Weitsee, and the Inselsee, in the southwest. The Chiemgau, the region surrounding the Chiemsee, is a famous recreation area.

5. Wendelstein Brannenburg
The Wendelstein is a 1,838-metre-high mountain in the Bavarian Alps in South Germany. It belongs to the so-called Mangfall Mountains, the eastern part of the Bavarian Pre-Alps. It is the highest peak in the Wendelstein massif. Due to its exposed location it has a very good view over the Bavarian Alpine Foreland and is unmistakable for miles around. It lies between the valleys of the Leitzach and Inn and is accessible via the Wendelstein Cable Car and the Wendelstein Rack Railway. On its northern foothills rises the Jenbach, which becomes the Kalten on its way to the River Mangfall. Local valley settlements include Bayrischzell, Brannenburg and Osterhofen .

Driving to Berchtesgaden via Deutsche Alpenstraße

The German Alpine Road (or Deutsche Alpenstrasse) is a 270 mile long stretch of roads snaking along the Austrian border, starting at Lindau and ending at Berchtesgaden - just short of Salzburg. Dreamt up by Hitler in the 1920s and only recently fully completed, it takes in Germany's most spectacular mountainous scenery, ski resorts, castles, and sleepy alpine villages, grazing cows and onion dome churches.

Teutonia Männerchor of Pittsburgh Radlers 1st City Trail Ride 2012

The Teutonia Männerchor of Pittsburgh was founded in 1854. It was an offspring of an organization called Liederkranz which was founded in 1851. Later, the Liederkranz became the Freier Männerchor and then the Teutonia Männerchor. The name Teutonia stems from the one of the oldest German Tribes. The club has over 2,500 members.
On August 11, 2012 it held its first ever radler (bicyclist) event, riding some of the Pittsburgh city trails from the North Side of town where the club is located to the South Side and the Hofbräuhaus for a few radlers (German beer-based mixed drinks) or beers and a light snack before riding back to the club for a delicious dinner. This video contains clips from the day.
