Athens Greece City Tour
Athens, Greece, is one of the oldest cities in the world, but don’t think you won’t find modern conveniences. Since the 2004 Olympics, Greece has poured massive amounts of funding into improving Athens’ infrastructure with an updated airport, highway system, and metro railway.
Tips: Visit the Acropolis and Parthenon in the morning to beat the crowds and heat. Plan on spending at least two hours to visit the Acropolis Museum and stay for lunch. At the Temple of Zeus, marvel at the largest temple in the country that took 700 years to build.
Just to the north of the Acropolis, you’ll find the ancient Agora of Athens, where Greeks used to congregate.
For retail therapy, we recommend three places: the Taveria Plaza, the flea markets of Monastiraki, or the designer boutiques of Kolonaki.
In front of Parliament, you’ll find the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and can watch the changing of the guards every hour.
