Mirboo North is a town in Victoria, Australia, located 155 kilometres east of Melbourne, with a population of 1,697. It is in the South Gippsland Shire local government area. The town is at the start of the Grand Ridge Rail Trail, which travels for 13 km through temperate rainforest and dry sclerophyll forest in the Strzelecki Ranges.

The Grand Ridge Rail Trail or Mirboo North to Boolarra Rail Trail is a 13 kilometre rail trail in the Strzelecki Ranges of west central Gippsland, connecting the towns of Mirboo North and Boolarra. The route follows the line of the former Mirboo North railway line for the entire distance. In February 2009, the trail was closed due to bushfires burning out two bridges. Since then the bridges have been replaced and the trail has been re-opened with the official ceremony held in Feb 2012.

It aims to display the fauna that was found in the Mornington Peninsula and Western Port Biosphere Reserve prior to European settlement as well as working towards the recovery of threatened Australian fauna. The park is open all year except on Christmas Day. The sanctuary, as part of Pearcedale Conservation Park, is an institutional member of the Zoo and Aquarium Association . It is ECO Certified at the Ecotourism level by Ecotourism Australia.

Weiter ging es in den Wilson Promontory Nationalpark, wo wir u.a. den Mount Oberon besteigen wollten und einige schöne Strände sehen wollten.

Was wir nicht sehen wollten, aber ungeplant vor uns erschien, war eine sehr giftige Schlange.

Alles in allem war es ein mega genialer Tag, mit super schönem Ausblick vom Mount Oberon und zusätzlich mit wilden Kängurus, Emus und Co.
