Nagele is a village in the Dutch province of Flevoland. It is a part of the municipality of Noordoostpolder, and lies about 10 km south of Emmeloord. In 2001, Nagele had 1037 inhabitants. The built-up area of the village was 0.61 km², and contained 481 residences.

The Zuiderzee Museum, located on Wierdijk in the historic center of Enkhuizen, is a Dutch museum devoted to preserving the cultural heritage and maritime history from the old Zuiderzee region. With the closing of the Afsluitdijk on May 28, 1932, the Zuiderzee was split in two parts: the waters below the Afsluitdijk are now called the IJsselmeer, while the waters north of it are called the Waddenzee.

Schokland is een dorp en voormalig eiland in de Noordoostpolder, Nederlandse provincie Flevoland, dat in 1859 werd ontruimd vanwege de onveilige situatie en omdat de instandhouding van het eiland te duur was. De gemeente Schokland werd per 10 juli 1859 opgeheven en bij de gemeente Kampen gevoegd.

Tot 1932 lag Schokland als een echt eiland in de Zuiderzee, die na de voltooiing van de Afsluitdijk in 1932 het IJsselmeer werd. Sinds de drooglegging van de Noordoostpolder in 1942 maakt Schokland deel uit van het vasteland.

Schokland ligt precies tussen de dorpen Nagele en Ens aan de N352. Het gebied wordt beheerd door stichting Het Flevolandschap. Op Schokland bevindt zich een museum waar de geschiedenis van het voormalige eiland zichtbaar wordt gemaakt. Jaarlijks bezoeken circa 40.000 mensen het museumdorp. Schokland werd in 1995 op de Werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO geplaatst.

Schokland (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈsχɔklɑnt]) is a former island in the Dutch Zuiderzee that is located in the municipality Noordoostpolder. Schokland lost its status as an island when the Noordoostpolder was reclaimed from the sea in 1942. The remains are still visible as a slightly elevated part in the polder and by the still partly intact retaining wall of the waterfront of 'Middelbuurt'. On 1 April 2014, it had 8 inhabitants.[1]

As a result from the increasing sea-level Schokland transformed from an attractive settlement area in the Middle Ages to a place under continuous threat by floods in the 19th century. By that time the Schoklanders had retreated to the three most elevated parts, Emmeloord, Molenbuurt, and Middelbuurt. A major flood in 1825 brought massive destruction, and in 1859 the government decided to end permanent settlement on Schokland. The former municipality of Schokland was joined to Kampen on the mainland.

Today Schokland is a popular archeological site and host to the Schokland Museum. Schokland was the first UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Netherlands. According to Statistics Netherlands, there are five people living on the former island.
