  • 3. Mount Miwa Sakurai
    Mount Miwa or Mount Mimoro is a mountain located in the city of Sakurai, Nara Prefecture, Japan. It has been an important religious and historical mountain in Japan, especially during its early history, and serves as a holy site in Shinto. The entire mountain is considered sacred, and is home to one of the earliest Shinto shrines, Ōmiwa Shrine. Several burial mounds from the Kofun period can be found around the mountain. The kami generally associated with Mount Miwa is Ōmononushi , a rain kami. However, the Nihon Shoki notes that there was a degree of uncertainly when it came to naming the principal kami of Mount Miwa, but he is often linked to Ōkuninushi.

    Yamato Sanzan or the three mountains of Yamato, in Kashihara, Nara Prefecture, Japan, are Mount Kagu , Mount Unebi , and Mount Miminashi . Celebrated in Japanese poetry, they have been jointly designated a Place of Scenic Beauty. Jimmu, first Emperor of Japan, is said to have built his palace on the southeast side of Mt Unebi; he is enshrined at Kashihara Jingū. Archaeological study in the 1990s has shown that, rather than their surrounding Fujiwara-kyō on three sides, the palace-city was so large as to encompass the three mountains.

Yoshino Mountain was the subject of a waka poem in the 10th century poetry compilation Kokin Wakashū. It is also the subject of several poems in the Ogura Hyakunin Isshu.Several important religious and pilgrimage destinations are located around Mount Yoshino, including Yoshino Mikumari Shrine, Kimpu Shrine, and Kimpusen-ji. It is well known for its cherry blossoms, and attracts many visitors every autumn.
