2 days in Maun, Botswana. An amazing African adventure
I had the great pleasure of visiting the wonderful country of Botswana. It is such a welcoming country with friendly people, amazing wildlife and superb attractions.
I got to spend two wonderful days in the northern village of Maun on the Okavango Delta where you can glide through pristine waterways on a morkoro and observe wildlife in its natural habitat.
I went on a midday game walk which meant there were less animals to see as many were sleeping, hidden from the harsh midday sun. But I still got to see zebra, hippos, donkeys, cows, crocodiles, spotted tree frogs, wilderbeest, and deer. And I had a sip of the sweet Okavango waters.
I stayed at the Old Bridge Backpackers ( and it was a magical place to stay. Great tent. Excellent bar. Good food. And a mighty big fig tree to laze under by the river and daydream.
I can't wait to get back to Africa. I love it!

The aptly named Elephant Sands is one of the best places in the world. Our trip there started with a morning walk in a part of its 16 000 ha private area. Then we spend 10 hours sitting by the restaurant and watching elephants. It's amazing how quickly time goes by when you are mesmerized by a constant stream of these magnificent animals. The day ended with a game drive & bush braii. Highly recommended.

In August I went with some friends to visit Elephant Sands. Elephant Sands in actually a lodge and restaurant in Nata a small village in Botswana.
The restaurant is open air and gives a perfect view of the elephants roaming. The mud pit where the elephants are playing and drinking is usually filled with water during the rainy season.
If you are planning to visit Botswana check it out. The lodge also does tours of places around Botswana.
