Omurice or omu-rice (オムライス Omu-raisu) is an example of yōshoku (a Western-influenced style of Japanese cuisine) consisting of an omelette made with fried rice and usually topped with ketchup. With omu and raisu being contractions of the words omelette and rice, the name is an example of Gairaigo. It is a popular dish both commonly cooked at home and often found at western style diners in Japan. The dish was brought to Korea during Japanese rule, and today it is a fixture on gimbap restaurant menus throughout South Korea, where it is rendered as 오므라이스 (omeuraiseu) in Hangul. Omurice is also popular in Taiwan, another territory formerly occupied by Japan. Children, in particular, enjoy omurice, and it is often featured in okosama-ranchi or kids' meals.
Omurice is said to have originated around the turn of the 20th century at a western style restaurant in Tokyo's Ginza district called Renga-tei, inspired by chakin-zushi.
It has been featured in popular culture such as the Japanese film Tampopo and the Korean TV series Rooftop Prince, and more recently in the manga Shokugeki no Soma.

Hiking Mt Hiei In Kyoto
Hiking Mt. Hiei in Kyoto // Spent a cloudy morning hiking up Mt. Hiei in northeastern Kyoto.
DIRECTIONS TO MT HIEI:
Take the Karasuma subway line from Kyoto station to Kitayama Station. Go out exit 1. Turn left out of the exit, cross the street, then turn right and cross the street, and wait at the bus stop for bus #8. If you want to take the cable car and ropeway all the way to the top of Mt Hiei, get off the bus at Shugakuin station (修学院) and take the light rail to the end of the line where you can transfer to the cable car. If you want to hike all the way, get off the bus at Ichijoji Kinomoto Cho (一乗寺木ノ本町) and walk to the Nihon Baptist Hospital. Photo directions are in the article below.

Beautiful cherry blossoms are in full-broom in Kagoshima.
They are so cute and wonderful!
I took the video at Yoshino Park, in Kagoshima.
The park was filled with families and couples appreciating the beauty of cherry blossoms!
Kagoshima is located in the south of Japan.
That's why you can appreciate cherry blossom earlier than other parts of Japan.
Cherry blossom is the national flower in Japan!
The life of the flower is very short and all flowers will disappear about 2 weeks after full-broom.
