ABOUT THIS VLOG:
➡ This is the first episode of our new series Favorite Lisbon Neighborhoods, where we explore the areas of Lisbon we have come to love and appreciate the most.
We start out in Campo de Ourique, which is an underrated neighborhood that most tourists of Lisbon aren't familiar with. Campo de Ourique is a pretty small neighborhood with a grid floor plan that makes finding your way around very easy.
The area is filled with vast amounts of restaurants and bars where you can have cuisine from whatever corner of the world, you wish.
One of the things we like the most about Campo de Ourique is the tranquility and relaxed atmosphere. You cannot walk around without feeling at ease.
Campo de Ourique is best described as a wonderful place for food lovers. And that's also why you have the Mercado de Campo de Ourique, which, in our opinion, is better than Time Out as it's more intimate and authentic with food tasting a little better.

Tourism in Portugal - Best Tourist Attractions
Lisbon, Algarve, Queluz, Sintra, Óbidos, Batalha, Fátima, Coimbra, Porto and Braga
Portugal is a country located mostly on the Iberian Peninsula in southwestern Europe. It is the westernmost sovereign state of mainland Europe. It is bordered to the west and south by the Atlantic Ocean and to the north and east by Spain. Its territory also includes the Atlantic archipelagos of the Azores and Madeira, both autonomous regions with their own regional governments.
Portugal is the oldest state on the Iberian Peninsula and one of the oldest in Europe, its territory having been continuously settled, invaded and fought over since prehistoric times. The Pre-Celts, Celts, Carthaginians and Romans were followed by the invasions of the Visigoths and Suebi Germanic peoples.
Portugal as a country was established during the Christian Reconquista against the Moors who had invaded the Iberian Peninsula in 711 AD. Despite attempts at independence since its foundation as a county in 868, only after the Battle of São Mamede in 1128, where Portuguese forces led by Afonso Henriques defeated forces led by his mother, Theresa of Portugal, the County of Portugal affirmed its sovereignty and Henriques styled himself Prince of Portugal. He would later be proclaimed King of Portugal at the Battle of Ourique in 1139 and was recognised as such, by neighbouring kingdoms, on the Treaty of Zamora, in 1143.
In the 15th and 16th centuries, Portugal established the first global empire, becoming one of the world's major economic, political and military powers. During this period, today referred to as the Age of Discovery, Portuguese explorers pioneered maritime exploration, notably under royal patronage of Prince Henry the Navigator and King John II, with such notable voyages as Bartolomeu Dias' sailing beyond the Cape of Good Hope (Cabo da Boa Esperança) (1488), Vasco da Gama's discovery of the sea route to India (1497–98) and the European discovery of Brazil (1500).
During this time Portugal monopolized the spice trade, and the empire expanded with military campaigns in Asia. However, events such as the destruction of Lisbon in a 1755 earthquake, the Industrial Revolution, the Seven Years' War, the country's occupation during the Napoleonic Wars, and the independence of Brazil (1822), erased to an extent Portugal's prior opulence.
After the 1910 revolution deposed the monarchy, the democratic but unstable Portuguese First Republic was established, later being superseded by the Estado Novo right-wing authoritarian regime. Democracy was restored after the Carnation Revolution in 1974, ending the Portuguese Colonial War.
Shortly after, independence was granted to almost all its overseas territories. The handover of Macau to China in 1999 marked the end of what can be considered the longest-lived colonial empire.
Portugal has left a profound cultural and architectural influence across the globe, a legacy of 300 million Portuguese speakers, and many Portuguese-based creoles. A member of the United Nations and the European Union, Portugal was also one of the founding members of NATO, the eurozone, the OECD, and the Community of Portuguese Language Countries.
Portugal is a developed country with a high-income advanced economy and high living standards. It is the 4th most peaceful country in the world, and its state is the 15th most stable one, maintained under a unitary semi-presidential republican form of government. Additionally, the country ranks highly in terms of democracy (10th), social progress (20th), prosperity (25th), press freedom (14th), moral freedom (3rd), LGBTI rights (7th in Europe), ease of doing business (29th) and road network (2nd).

ABOUT THIS VLOG
➡ It's finally time for another adventure in Northern Portugal, where so many of you guys have said that this is the REAL Portugal, where you get REAL Portuguese food. Now we get to see if you are right!
We were invited on this trip by Marco Neiva from Oh My Media who also has a vlog.
It's a so-called Fam-Trip, where influencers and journalists are invited with the purpose of promoting an area. In this case it's Baixo Tamega, which is close to Douro Valley.
The Fam-Trip is three days long with an action-packed program from morning to evening.
On our first day we meet all the people at the wonderful hotel, Monverde Wine Experience Hotel, where we enjoyed a superb wine-tasting of some of the best wines from the area of Vinho Verde, which we learned is NOT a green wine, as there is no such thing!
After the wine-tasting we went to the beautiful town of Amarante that is a hotspot for Portuguese culture and history. This town is so charming and beautiful that we instantly bookmarked this for another trip, as we only had the evening here to enjoy Portuguese food at the amazing Restaurant Ze Da Calcada. It really was Portuguese food at its best!

With its political stability and low crime rates, it is ranked as the most peaceful country in the EU and the 3rd in the world. Additionally, it is a sustainable state, maintaining a unitary semi-presidential republic, a strong rule of law, and the lowest levels of corruption in southern Europe. Portugal ranks above the OECD average in mathematics, science, and reading, having been the country with the most expressive positive evolution throughout PISA's studies. Although a Catholic-majority country for most of its history, modern Portugal is a secular state with one of the world's highest rates of moral freedom. It was the first country to abolish life imprisonment and one of the earliest to abolish capital punishment. Practices such as abortion, same-sex marriage and adoption, medically assisted insemination for single women and lesbian couples, and altruistic surrogacy have been legalized. In 2001, Portugal became the first country in the world to decriminalize the possession and consumption of all illicit drugs, focusing on treatment and harm reduction, with significant public health gains.

ABOUT THIS VLOG:
➡ Welcome to our Epic Portuguese Food Tour! It was such a fantastic day going on this food tour exploring some of the most famous and best Portuguese food there is.
In this Portuguese food tour we tried a lot of epic food including grilled bacalhau, Portuguese coffee, Mozambican Bakra Piri Piri, Pastel de Nata, Pastel de Bacalhau, Sopa Rica de Peixe, Cabrito and Marble Cake.
This is just the tip of the iceberg, as Portuguese food has an endless amounts of delicious dishes. That's also why we will be doing a lot more of these Portuguese food tours!

Lisbon - Essential Sights & Neighborhoods
A tour of Lisbon's most interesting, and popular, places:
Praça do Comércio - the famous water-front plaza, still commonly known as Terreiro do Paço (English: Palace Yard), because it was the location of the Paços da Ribeira (Royal Ribeira Palace) until it was destroyed by the great 1755 Lisbon earthquake. After the earthquake, the square was completely remodeled.
Cais das Colunas - the old docks, now a wonderful place for entertainment and relaxation.
Baixa Pombalina - the central, elegant, district, primarily constructed after the 1755 Lisbon earthquake.
Rossio Square - the popular name of the Pedro IV Square, one of the main squares since the Middle Ages.
The Alfama - Lisbon's oldest district. During the times of Moorish domination, Alfama constituted the whole of the city.
São Jorge Castle - the dramatic Moorish castle occupying a commanding hilltop overlooking the historic center.
The Santa Justa Lift, also called Carmo Lift, is an elevator in the historic center, connecting the Baixa Pombalin to the Barrio Alto.
Barrio Alto is within an easy walk from the central Baixa Pombalina district, (especially if you take the Santa Justa Lift). The barrio is famous for it's night-life, bars & entertainments. By day you can visit two architectural gems: the Baroque church Igreja of São Roque,
and ruins of Carmo Convent.
