1. Sultan Abu Bakar State Mosque
Sultan Abu Bakar Mosque is one of the largest architectural feats in Johor Bahru that boasts of Victorian-Moorish architecture style from the late 19th century. The beautiful mosque sits on top of a hill and overlooks the Straits of Johor, which allows you to catch the silhouette of Singapore on a clear day. 2. Desaru Fruit Farm
Situated on 100 acres of land, Desaru Fruit Farm is packed with hundreds of tropical fruits and plants as well as a petting zoo and a koi fish pond. Since Desaru Fruit Farm practice sustainable tourism, all the trees are planted and harvested the most environmentally-friendly way and only organic compost is used as fertilizer. This farm is one of the best places to travel to in Malaysia to discover the country’s representative fruits.
3. Legoland
One of Johor’s biggest pride, Legoland Malaysia is Malaysia’s first international theme park which opened in 2012 in Iskandar Puteri. It’s the first Legoland theme park in Asia and has over 40 interactive rides, attractions and shows. It’s an exciting place for both kids and adults, especially Lego lovers as everything at this theme park is made of Lego. 4. Bukit Layang Layang
Bukit Layang Layang is the official venue for the annual Pasir Gudang International Kite Festival, which attracts thousands of visitors and kite enthusiasts around the world. 5. Hakka Heritage Gallery
Bekok’s one and only museum is dedicated to the Hakka community in Malaysia who originated from the Hakka-speaking provinces in mainland China. The Pasir Gudang World Kite Festival may not garner as much international media coverage as other Malaysian festivals but the six-day event does attract a lot of local attention. Held in Pasir Gudang, Johor, it is an exhibition with booths showcasing kites and even has kite-making workshops and demonstrations.
It gathers almost 230 international kite flyers from more than 40 countries.
