Underground KLEK Complex - Željava Air Force Base - Croatia Full HD 2014
Underground KLEK complex a.k.a. Objekat 505 is the underground section of now abandoned Željava air base. 3.5 kilometers in length, designed to survive a 20 Kt nuclear blast with enough food, water, fuel and other necessities to last for a month. The complex housed around 50 MiG-21's of Yugoslav air force. The complex also included an underground water source, power generators, crew quarters, and other strategic military facilities. And in 1992 it was deliberately destroyed and abandoned. Today Željava stands on the border of Croatia (90%) and Bosnia & Herzegovina (10%) near the town of Bihać (B&H). Abandoned, and still, one of the largest underground airports in Europe. All i n all, it's a massive complex and quite interesting to explore if you're into abandoned objects.
But, before you visit, READ THIS, IMPORTANT! 1. Keep your feet on the concrete or asphalt! Don't walk on the grass! You could step on a Land Mine! 2. Wear protective clothing like gloves, boots and a mask in the underground object KLEK due to toxic material. 3. Notify the border police on the nearest border crossing about your visit.
