In Spanish: Cementerio de la Recoleta, which contains the graves of notable people, including Eva Perón aka Evita, many Presidents of Argentina, Nobel Prize winners, the founder of the Argentine Navy. Even the granddaughter of Napoleon is here. Recoleta neighborhood has witnessed the construction of a great number of châteaux as well as Parisian style petits hôtels, almost always designed by architects of French origin. The name of the neighborhood comes from the Monastery of the Recollect Fathers, members of the Franciscan Order which was established in the area at the beginning of the 18th century. They founded a monastery and a church dedicated to Nuestra Señora del Pilar with a cemetery attached. The Recoleta pathway is nearly the exact geographic center of the neighborhood, and one of its highest points in the city, which, at the end of the 19th century attracted wealthy families from the south of the city who sought to escape from the deadly yellow fever outbreak which began in 1871.

It was for that reason that, while the underprivileged classes settled in the south of the city, the most wealthy settled in the Recoleta area, where the height of the terrain reduced the presence of insects which transmitted the diseases.

The most visited tomb in Recoleta Cemetery is that of Evita Peron, the famous First Lady. Every day fresh flowers are placed at her grave. Only the rich and famous are buried here, in tombs worth more than most luxury apartments. The church, Our Lady of Pilar, dates back to the early days of Buenos Aries. Inside you can see examples of colonial religious art and there's even a museum of church relics. Plaza Francia is a great place to enjoy the view.
Oh it is a park with the green areas and the cafes and the good food and it is really nice restaurants here, and the church, it is nice to walk it. Around the Plaza there are great bars and restaurants to serve every taste. It is a nice neighborhood because we have in the cemetery the greatest woman who ever lived, Evita. Casa Alfaro, located in the trendy neighborhood of Palermo Viejo, offers a calm and authentic retreat from the bustle of the city. This bed and breakfast has a cozy and intimate atmosphere.
Mariana Alfaro: This house was our family house. It was built in 1916. My family bought it in 1982. In fact, it was one of the first bed and breakfasts in Buenos Aires.
Veronica: The style is eclectic, featuring country crafts and Peurtanio antiques.
Mariana: Most of our rooms have private bathrooms, except three of them that have a shared bath for guests that we call an independent traveler. Most of them are really looking to see the real Buenos Aires. We would recommend them non-typical places to visit, like hidden restaurants, off the beaten track places to go. So, basically the idea is to discover a new Buenos Aires by themselves. Then, breakfast is included. The typical continental breakfast plus cereal, yogurt, fruits, and a variety of teas and coffee. We also offer wi-fi internet.
Veronica: There are three outdoor spaces covered with lush trees and vines, perfect for a quiet moment. Sometimes you really think you're in the country here.
Mariana: Our rates go between $40 and $80 plus tax, and the difference basically because of the rooms.
