Praia da Vitória (Portuguese pronunciation: [pɾajɐ ðɐ vitɔɾiɐ]), translated as the Beach of the Victory, is a municipality in the Portuguese archipelago of the Azores. With a population of 21,035 (in 2011), the second largest administrative authority on the island of Terceira, it covers an area of 161.27 square kilometers (62.27 sq mi), that extends from the northern coast halfway into the interior.

The highest point of the island, at 1,021 m altitude, is located in the Serra de Santa Bárbara, at 38°43’47’’ latitude north and 27°19’11’’ longitude west.

These are the two cities of Terceira Island, part of the Azores archipelago, with a total of 57 thousand inhabitants who, together, live in year-round celebration, both secular and religious.
Between Europe and America, the nine Azores islands are part of routes, journeys and the greatest scenery of the “blue ocean highways”. There is an island with an even greater geostrategic value that was a staging post for the ships that lead the European maritime expansion: Terceira Island.

Lançamento de Sky Lanterns (En. Launching/Release of the Sky Lanterns) is the closing event of Festas da Praia, a yearly festival of music, dance, and parades on Terceira Island.
This video was recorded on August 9th, 2015. As it was my first time at the festival, my friends and I didn't expect the release of the lanterns to begin so soon, and I didn't expect the lanterns to be so beautiful. Really, this video doesn't do it justice, this sight is even more breathtaking in real life.
