Felmersham is a village and civil parish in the Borough of Bedford in Bedfordshire, England, on the River Great Ouse, about 7 miles north west of Bedford. As a civil parish, it includes the hamlet of Radwell, and is sometimes known as Felmersham with Radwell, and has a population of about 800, and is circumscribed by the Great Ouse on the north, east and south. Other nearby places are Sharnbrook, Odell, Pavenham and Milton Ernest. Felmersham with Radwell was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as a parish within the Hundred of Willey. Radwell is a hamlet in the Hundred of Willey in North Bedfordshire, England, on the River Great Ouse, about 7 miles north west of Bedford. Administratively, it is often included with the neighbouring village of Felmersham, and the Civil Parish is sometimes known as Felmersham with Radwell. According to the 2011 Census the civil parish mentioned had been renamed Felmersham and the population of Radwell was included there. The hamlet has no church, but is part of the parish of St. Mary's, Felmersham. A chapel dedicated to St James was first recorded in 1204, but had fallen out of use by the 17th century. Visitors to the park can drive through exhibits, which contain species such as southern white rhino, elephants, tigers and black bears. It is part of the estates of the Duke of Bedford that also includes Woburn Abbey and its 3,000-acre deer park. Bradgate Park is a public park in Charnwood Forest, in Leicestershire, England, northwest of Leicester. It covers 850 acres . The park lies between the villages of Newtown Linford, Anstey, Cropston, Woodhouse Eaves and Swithland. The River Lin runs through the park, flowing into Cropston Reservoir which was constructed on part of the park. To the north-east lies Swithland Wood. The park's two well known landmarks, Old John and the war memorial, both lie just above the 210 m contour. ENGLAND`S OLDEST HAUNTED CHURCH

Here Haunted Earth visit the oldest church in England of St Peter Ad Murum at Bradwell Juxta Mare, (Bradwell on Sea), Essex.
Reputedly 1,350 years old, the church was built from the ruins of the abandoned Roman Shore Fort of Othona by St Cedd when he converted the East Saxon tribes of Essex to Christianity.
The church is modelled on an early Coptic Christian design that originated in the former Christian countries of Syria and Egypt.
For many years the church was used as a cow barn until 1920 when it was re-consecrated and opened to the public.

FOOTNOTE:
Today the area is threatened by the presence of 10 off-shore wind turbines, and the re-opening and expansion of nearby Bradwell Nuclear (Magnox) Power Station which although closed by the government in 2002 they now want to re-open and increase it`s operation in the near future.
The future of this area of outstanding natural beauty looks very bleak.

Cherry Orchard Brickworks Railway

The final year of activity on the Cherry Orchard Brickworks railway, North of Southend-on-Sea, Essex, UK.
Brickearth is the raw material of traditional hand made bricks, and Essex had substantial deposits, especially in the south of the county.
Milton Hall bricks were made at Cherry Orchard works and at the company's other site at Star Lane, Great Wakering, five miles to the east. The works were bought by Butterley Brick in the 1980s.
Cherry Orchard Lane gave access to farms and footpaths, but was not a through route for vehicles. The need to relieve congestion on the Southend to Rochford and Hockley roads led to the building of the B1013, named Cherry Orchard Way. This runs almost parallel to the old lane, and bisects it north of the railway crossing. The road was built to accomodate the railway, with an underpass and trackbed alongside the new road to allow trains to reach the brickearth pit. However, economics dictated that Cherry Orchard works was mothballed, with production being concentrated at Star Lane; consequently the railway was never used again. The works deteriorated over a number of years and was eventually demolished. In 2019 the site remains fenced off, awaiting development as the Saxon Business Park, part of the London Southend Airport & Environs Joint Area Action Plan.
The fields to the west of the railway now form part of Cherry Orchard Jubilee Country Park.

Oakhill Manor Railway

Some cine film of the Oakhill Manor Railway. The footage was taken during the construction, opening, and operation of the railway in its early years.
Sadly it is now derelict although many of the features are still evident including the bridge, tunnels and track bed. There is still some track in place however the trees and shrubs have grown through much of it.
