Riverstown, historically called Ballyederdaowen , is a village in County Sligo, Ireland. It is located at a bridging point of the River Unshin , about 19 km south of Sligo town and 4 km east of the N4 road. Notable buildings include the Garda Barracks, the Church of Ireland and Roman Catholic churches, Coopershill House and the Post Office. There are also a number of pubs and shops. Each year the village hosts the James Morrison Traditional Music Festival during August and the Riverstown Vintage Festival during June. Lough Key Forest Park is an 800-hectare park on the southern shore of Lough Key, 40 km south east of Sligo Town and 3 km east of Boyle, County Roscommon, in the Republic of Ireland. Formerly part of the Rockingham Estate laid out by the King family, it is open to the public. What remained of the estate was sold by Sir Cecil Stafford-King-Harman, 2nd Bt., to the Irish Land Commission, an Irish Government agency, in May 1959. The Land Commission officially took control of the estate in November 1959. The part of the estate that later became Lough Key Forest Park was handed over by the Land Commission to the Forestry Commission a few years later. Giethoorn, Netherlands – Town Having No Roads

Giethoorn – village located in the Dutch (Netherlands) province of Overijssel. It is known to be Netherlands “Venice of the North” or “Venice of the Netherlands“. It became famous, after 1958, when the Dutch film maker Bert Haanstra made his well-known comedy “Fanfare” there. The town having no roads in it and all the transport was done by water over one of the many canals. The lakes in Giethoorn were formed by peat unearthing. Only few cycling tracks are there. People are always greeted and encouraged to rent an electric and quiet “Whisper Boat” to discover this little piece of heaven on earth. With having population of only around 300, one of the beautiful place for the travellers to come and enjoy.

The beauty of this place visitors can discover with organized ship tours, and can rent a boat and drive themselves through the canal. The second way to meet Giethoorn is a walk on the wooden bridges or renting a bike. From Amsterdam it is situated about 90 kilometers away and from Rotterdam and Hague and about 110.

Little adventure across Sligo Bay to and into Ballisodare Bay 'OnSHUNA'. This Bay is beautiful with the famous Knocknarea and
mythical Iron Age Queen Maeve grave over looking it.

This enormous cairn atop Knocknarea is 55 meters in diameter by 10 meters high. Folklore says it was built for the mythical Iron Age Queen Maeve, whose father, the high king of Ireland, gave her Connacht as a gift. Archaeologists believe it may really date back to 3000 BC, but who is to say that Queen Maeve was not tucked into an existing monument? It is considered bad luck to remove a stone from the cairn, and good luck to take one up the hill with you to deposit on it.
