You might not know who Arjan Roskam is, but you've probably smoked his weed. Arjan's been breeding some of the most famous marijuana strains in the world—like White Widow, Super Silver Haze, and many others—for over 20 years.
In 1992 he opened his first coffee shop in Amsterdam and has since crafted his marijuana-breeding skills into a market-savvy empire known as Green House Seed Company, which rakes in millions of dollars a year.
He's won 38 Cannabis Cups and has dubbed himself the King of Cannabis.
VICE joins Arjan and his crew of strain hunters in Colombia to look for three of the country's rarest types of weed, strains that have remained genetically pure for decades. In grower's terms, these are called landraces. We trudge up mountains and crisscross military checkpoints in the country's still-violent south, and then head north to the breathtaking Caribbean coast. As the dominoes of criminalization fall throughout the world, Arjan is positioned to be at the forefront of the legitimate international seed trade.

Alors éditeur d’un magazine écologiste, Yvan habitait une maison certes écologique, mais grande. Grande en tout cas pour l’un des nombreux visiteurs qu’il avait accueilli. La graine était semée… Et c’est quelques années plus tard qu’il se décidera à construire la première Tiny House en France / As he was publishing an ecologist magazine, Yvan used to live in a house that certainly was ecological, but pretty big. Pretty big indeed for one of the many visitors he hosted. The idea was there... A few years later, he decided to build the first Tiny House in France. Yvan a fondé deux magazines : La Maison Ecologique et le magazine de société Kaizen. Yvan est actuellement auteur et directeur de collection aux éditions YpyPyp spécialisées sur les questions d’autonomie (habitat, permaculture, alimentation...). Il vit en Auvergne, dans les Combrailles, dans sa tiny auto-construite en 2013. Pionnier dans ce domaine, il a écrit l’ouvrage « Tiny House, le nid qui voyage » / Yvan founded two magazines: The Ecological House and Kaizen magazine. Yvan is currently author and director of the YpyPyp publishing house, specialized in autonomy issues (habitat, permaculture, food...). He lives in the French region Auvergne, in the Combrailles, in the tiny house that he built in 2013. As a pioneer in this field, he wrote the book « Tiny House, the nest that can travel ». I know your not supposed to laugh at this but it's just so damn funny when you watch it for the first time...
This is a clip from a program called Strange Behaviours which was shown on The National Geographic channel this week.
If you missed it and get the chance to watch it sometime then I recommend you do. Like I say on first viewing to most of us it really is quite funny but more importantly when you watch the full program you realise just what hell Tourettes sufferers must go through in their daily lives.
Just wanted to say how much I admire those who took part in this fascinating program for being so courageous to stand up and say, hey I'm not mentally Ill or crazy and if people who don't suffer from such a debilitating handicap can't deal with it then that's their problem and not that of those who suffer from this terrible syndrome...
