Orava Castle , is situated on a high rock above Orava river in the village of Oravský Podzámok, Slovakia. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful castles in Slovakia. The castle was built in the Kingdom of Hungary in the thirteenth century. Many scenes of the 1922 film Nosferatu were filmed here, the castle representing Count Orlok's Transylvanian castle.Orava Castle stands on the site of an old wooden fortification, built after the Mongol invasion of Hungary of 1241. Its history since then reveals a familiar pattern of construction, destruction, reconstruction, fire, various ownerships and territorial squabbles. Dear guests, we invite you to the ranch of the Vukovic family in the National park Plitvice Lakes where you will be well treated by your kind hosts, Slavko and Slavica.
Our house is located in the quiet area in the village of Poljanak, number 19, inside the National park Plitvice Lakes. We are 10 kilometers away from the entrance number one, 12 kilometers from the entrance number 2 and about 20 minutes of slow walking or biking from the side entrance and the great waterfall.
Slavko, who also works as a ranger in the National park Plitvice Lakes, will be your excellent guide through the National Park and other natural beauties in the nearby.
During your stay at our place we highly recommend you to visit natural beauties in the nearby: Rastoke in Slunj, Caves od Barac in Rakovica and rafting on the river Una (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and if you come in the winter there is also a ski resort, about 10 kilometers away from our house.
Price for one overnight is 100 kn or 15 euros per person.
Accomodation:
We will host you in two modern furnished rooms with four beds and the possibility of using kitchen and living room.
We offer renting rooms throughout the year. All of the rooms have central heating and satellite TV.
