Shah Alam replaced Kuala Lumpur as the capital city of the state of Selangor in 1978 due to Kuala Lumpur's incorporation into a Federal Territory in 1974. Shah Alam was the first planned city in Malaysia after independence from Britain in 1957.

    Setia Alam is a township located in Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia. It is accessible via Setia Alam Highway from the New Klang Valley Expressway since the interchange was opened on 14 July 2006. Setia Alam is also accessible from the Federal Highway and Klang via Jalan Meru. This township is developed by SP Setia Berhad Group. Setia Alam is an integrated development spanning over 4,000 acres of land. It falls under the jurisdiction of the Shah Alam City Council which had placed restrictions on the establishment of entertainment outlets such as pubs, discos and lottery business. Setia Alam is represented in the Parliament by the Member of Parliament for Shah Alam, Khalid bin Abd Samad and State Assemblyman for Kota Anggerik, Mohd Najwan Halimi.

    The Maluri station is an integrated station for light rapid transit and mass rapid transit services located on the eastern fringe of Kuala Lumpur near and named after Taman Maluri , a residential housing estate. The station is located along Jalan Cheras opposite the AEON-JUSCO Taman Maluri shopping centre and the Sunway Velocity Shopping Mall. The Kerayong River also runs beside the station. The station comprises an elevated station serving the Ampang Line which was opened in 1996, and the underground station of the Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line which was opened on 17 July 2017. Both stations are connected via a paid-area-to-paid-area elevated pedestrian linkway.
