St Columb Major is a town and civil parish in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. Often referred to locally as St Columb, it is situated approximately seven miles southwest of Wadebridge and six miles east of Newquay The designation Major distinguishes it from the nearby settlement and parish of St Columb Minor on the coast. An electoral ward simply named St Columb exists with a population at the 2011 census of 5,050.Twice a year the town plays host to hurling, a medieval game once common throughout Cornwall but now only played in St Columb and St Ives.     Castle Dore is an Iron Age hill fort near Fowey in Cornwall, United Kingdom located at grid reference SX103548. It was probably occupied from the 5th or 4th centuries BC until the 1st century BC. It consists of two ditches surrounding a circular area 79 metres in diameter. Excavated in the 1930s, it was one of the most intensively investigated Iron Age hillforts in Cornwall.
