Lombok is an island in West Nusa Tenggara province, Indonesia. It forms part of the chain of the Lesser Sunda Islands, with the Lombok Strait separating it from Bali to the west and the Alas Strait between it and Sumbawa to the east. The provincial capital and largest city on the island is Mataram. It is somewhat similar in size and density with neighboring Bali and shares some cultural heritage, but is administratively part of NTB along with sparsely populated Sumbawa. It is surrounded by a number of smaller islands locally called Gili.

West Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara, has attractions such as the beach is not less beautiful than the beaches in Bali. The beach is called the beach Maluk Maluk located in the village, District Jereweh, West Sumbawa regency. Maluk Beach tourists can see the beauty of the Gulf of Maluk. Kuta Lombok, Indonesia, is a very popular travel destination and is home to Mahun, Mawi and Selong Belanak beach! It is ideal for sufers as it has a laid back atmosphere, good weather, is easily reachable and offers good waves both for beginner and more advanced surfers. We arrived by fast boat from the Gili Islands via the ferry port Bangsal, but you can also arrive by plane from Bali. We decided to check out the best and most beautiful beaches on the west side of Kuta Lombok: Mahun beach, Mawi Beach and Selong Belanak beach. As transport in the area if farely expensive, renting a motorbike is one of the best things to do in Lombok, so that’s what we did. Check out the video to see what your favourite beach would be! 10. Raja Ampat Islands

Lying to the east of Sumbawa and to the west of Lembata in Nusa Tenggara, the long island of Flores offers an array of natural and cultural sights. Torajaland (Tana Toraja) is a highland region of South Sulawesi, home of the Toraja people. Torajans are famous for their massive peaked-roof houses known as tongkonan and spectacular but gruesome funeral rites. After a person’s death, the body is kept – often for several years – until the actual funeral ceremony, which can last for several days.

Bukit Lawang is a small village situated at the eastern side of Gunung Leuser National Park about 90 kilometers northwest of Medan, the capital city of North Sumatra. A rehabilitation center for orangutans was founded here in 1973. The main purpose is to preserve the decreasing number of orangutan population due to hunting and deforestation.

The reptiles roam freely over the islands, and visitors rely on experienced tour guides for sightings and to keep them safe. Komodo National Park is also famous as a world-class scuba diving destination.

Yogyakarta is a bustling town of some 500,000 people and the most popular tourist destination on Java, due to its proximity to the famous temples of Borobudur and Prambanan. The city itself is a center of art and education, offers some good shopping and has a wide range of tourist facilities. Yogyakarta lies in one of the most seismically active parts of Java and has thus repeatedly been struck by earthquakes and volcano eruptions. In 2006 an earthquake flattened over 300,000 houses while in 2010 the nearby volcano of Mount Merapi erupted, spewing lava over nearby villages.

Sumbawa Travel vlog. This place is magical! This place should be on your bucket list! We just spent a few days on the incredible island of Sumbawa in Indonesia on the west coast exploring. Here is day 1 of the travel vlog on Sumbawa. We had some of the best snorkeling in the world - absolutely mind blowing!!! Highly recommend coming around here. We stay by Ketrasari at Whales & Waves. Few more options on the west of Sumbawa by Maluk. Sumbawa is also very famous for surfing but when we came there were no waves as the moon just changed!

Mount Tambora Adventure, Sumbawa, Indonesia 2019
During my trip in Indonesia in March and April 2019, I contacted visittambora.com
I communicated with Rik via WhatsApp and very quickly, thankfully, Rik was able to fit me in right away and also arranged for a shared car ride from Bima Airport to Pancasila with my two new friends.
I chose the 4D 3N package.
After around 4-5 hours we arrived in Pancasila, at the park entrance, we had to register and pay 300k - this is included as part of the package.
Then we took a 20 minute scooter taxi ride to Visit Tambora base camp.

Once arrived at the base camp, we were greeted by Rik and his wife Nurul, their son Jess and the cutest dog ever Bolo.
We settled in, had a delicious dinner, a good chat and got to know everyone.
It was also Rik's birthday that day.
We listened to Rik's story of how he ended up in Indonesia all the way from Holland. It was fascinating indeed.
Then watched the stars for a while. It was so peaceful and wonderful to see the sky unspoilt by light pollution.
Next morning we were fed a delicious breakfast and got on our way at around 8am.
I can't remember exactly how long it took to reach each Pos.
However, we reached Pos 5 at around 5pm and we camped there for the night.
The guides / porters were brilliant in every way possible and made sure we were all OK and the food they cooked was lovely.
Next morning we had a light breakfast and left camp at around 5.45am.
We didn't want to get there for the sunrise and that was a good decision as it turned out it was too cloudy (good enough excuse for me lol).
Took us around 2 hours (I think) to reach the summit.
As it was on the 10th of April (anniversary) there were a few people there.
But an hour later they all left and we had the whole place to ourselves.
It was amazing!
I loved every minute of the whole trip (I'm lying, I was in agony coming back down!).
When we got back to the base camp, Rik welcomed us back with a freshly squeezed orange juice from his own backyard.
Very juicy indeed!
Later on we were fed the biggest and the most delicious dinner.
Nurul is a great cook! Thank you.
We stayed there that evening and watched a short film that Rik has made.
Rik is one out of maybe 5 people who has ever gone into the caldera.
It was very interesting indeed to see Mount Tambora from inside the caldera.
The next morning after breakfast sadly we had to leave and made our way back to Bima.

Sumbawa is an Indonesian island, located in the middle of the Lesser Sunda Islands chain, with Lombok to the west, Flores to the east, and Sumba further to the southeast. It is in the province of West Nusa Tenggara.
Sumbawa is 15,448 km² (three times the size of Lombok) with a population of around 1.5 million. It marks the boundary between the islands to the west, which were influenced by religion and culture spreading from India, and the region to the east that was not so influenced.
Four principalities in western Sumbawa were dependencies of the Majapahit Empire of eastern Java. The Dutch first arrived in 1605, but did not effectively rule Sumbawa until the early 20th century. The Balinese kingdom of Gelgel ruled western Sumbawa for a short period as well. It was also home to the Sultanate of Bima.
Historical evidence indicates that people on Sumbawa island were known in the East Indies for their honey, horses[1], sappan wood for producing red dye[2], and sandalwood used for incense and medications. The area was thought to be highly productive agriculturally.
