Tanay, officially the Municipality of Tanay, , is a 1st class municipality in the province of Rizal, Philippines. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 117,830 people.It is located 57 kilometres east of Manila, although a typical commute between Manila and Tanay will take between one and three hours depending upon traffic conditions. It contains portions of the Sierra Madre Mountains and is bordered by Antipolo City in the north-west, Baras, Morong and Teresa in the west, General Nakar in the east, and Pililla, Santa Maria as well as the lake Laguna de Bay in the south.   • 1. Masungi Georeserve Baras
    The Masungi Georeserve is the first conservation project in the Philippines situated in the Southern Sierra Madre range in Baras, Rizal, 47 kilometres east of Manila. It centers on the geological formations of Masungi Rock, at an elevation of 640 metres . In 1993, the Masungit Rock and its vicinity was proposed to be declared as a Strict Nature Reserve and Wildlife Sanctuary by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. It has been a popular destination for hikes and day trips from Manila since it opened in 2015 and started development towards Geopark status.
