Temple Sowerby is a village and civil parish in Cumbria, northern England. It is close to the main east–west A66 road about 8 miles east of Penrith in the Eden Valley. At the centre of the village is the village green surrounded by cottages and houses, the village hall, Church of England primary school and a public house and hotel. Just outside the village stands the cricket pitch, a bowling green, the new doctors surgery and the Temple Sowerby garage. The National Trust property Acorn Bank is nearby, which dates back to the days of the crusades when a member of the Knights Templar lived there. Acorn Bank Garden & Watermill is a National Trust property situated just north of Temple Sowerby, near Penrith, Cumbria, England. The property is noted for its garden, which features herbs — over 250 medicinal and culinary herbs — and orchards with old varieties of English fruit as well as a partially restored watermill. The garden is surrounded, and protected, by ancient oaks and high walls.

Riding the Aire Valley Towpath Cycle Route 2015

Join Sarah, John and myself as we ride the Aire Valley Towpath (NCR 66) from Bingley to Leeds and back again. I have couple of unfortunate incidents, but live to tell the tale. Although this ride is new to us in 2015 It's a great route with fantastic scenery and easy going terrain which we will definitely revisit in 2016. The cycle path is suited to cyclists of all abilities, even non cyclist can enjoy the route.
