Teyateyaneng is a town located in the district of Berea in Lesotho. Usually abbreviated to T.Y., Teyateyaneng takes its name from the two twin rivers which run on the north and the South . Both rivers lead to the Mohokare, or the Caledon River which forms the western boundary with South Africa. They are both named for their vast quantities of sand which means rapid dipping of feet as one crosses them, leading to both names which may well suggest that this is a 'place of quick sands'. Teyateyaneng is also the camptown for the district of Berea. In 2005 it had a population of 75,115.

Maletsunyane Falls is a 192-metre-high waterfall in the Southern African country Lesotho. It is located near the town of Semonkong , which also is named after the falls. The waterfall is on the Maletsunyane River and it falls from a ledge of Triassic-Jurassic basalt.The plunging water creates a reverberating echo when it contact the basin of the falls, and local legend has it that the sound comes from the wailing of people who have drowned in the falls.In December 2017, the Australian YouTube channel How Ridiculous broke the record for the world's highest basketball shot at Maletsunyane Falls. This stands as the current world record.

The town also houses the Morija Museum and Archives, well known for supporting research and preserving valuable records and documents of Lesotho’s history.

The Liphofung Historical Site includes a cave which occupies an important place in Lesotho history. It is the smallest of the Lesotho Highlands Development Authority reserves, at about 4.5 ha , but has been intensively developed. The cave is a large overhang in the Clarens sandstone, which is a typical feature of the Lesotho lowlands region. Originally used by the San people and other Neolithic people, the walls contain important rock art and a rich archaeological deposit of Stone Age implements lies beneath the floor. Later, King Moshoeshoe the Great used the cave as a stopover when visiting that part of the kingdom. Lesotho - Maseru to Malealea Day Trip 4th February 2018

Scenes along A2 highway south about 90 kms south from the capital city of Lesotho, Maseru to Malealea village in the very scenic Makhaleng Valley, . Trip included visit to family farm of travelling companion Moqena Taole during morning of Sunday 4th February 2018 after 2 exhausting days travelling over 12,000 kms from Australia via Johannesburg and visiting Orphanage at Teyateyaneng on February 1-2 & then 1 day after the official Orphans Foundation launch at Khali Hotel Function Centre Auditorium on Saturday February 3rd.

Lesotho Highlands Tour 5th February 2018

First day of 3-day road trip through Lesotho's Maluti Mountains. At midday we left from Maseru north to Leribe & lunched at northern town of Butha-Buthe before continuing inland to climb into mountains at 2,820m high Moteng Pass. From there we traversed the 3,000 metre high 46kms long Roof of Africa road past the Afriski mountain resort & Letseng Diamond Mine before descending into the deep valleys to small town of Mapholaneng, and further on east towards Mokhotlong. The highway descends down to a river crossing of the great Senqu River of Lesotho - where it meets other great rivers in a confluence basin of gorges before heading south then west into South Africa to become the Orange (Gariep) River. After a brief visit to Mokhotlong we turned back & continued south along the recently constructed A31 highway following the Sehonghong River Valley until a final climb over the 3,240 metre high Koti-Sephola Pass & down to Sani Flats. A short 10km drive further on saw our arrival at Sani Mountain Lodge by 8pm, where we had a meal & stayed overnight at the nearby backpackers hostel.
