Tumkur is one of the industrial cities located in the state of Karnataka, also known as Shaikshanika Nagari and Kalpatharu Nadu . Since 28 August 2010, Tumkur has been accorded the status of a City Corporation. It is situated at a distance of 70 km northwest of Bangalore, along National Highway NH-4 and NH-206. It is the headquarters of the Tumkur district. Tumkur hosts India's first mega food park, a project of the ministry of food processing. The India Food Park was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September 2014.

    Madhugiri is a town in Tumkur district in the Indian state of Karnataka. The town derives its name from a hillock, Madhu-giri which is to the north of the place. At 3,930 ft elevation, Madhugiri is a single hill. It is the second largest monolith in Asia.[1] Nestled on its steep slopes is a fort. Antaralada Bagilu, Diddibagilu, and Mysuru Gate are the three gateways of the fort. A series of doorways leads to the hill. The ruined temple of Gopalakrishna is located at the top. The construction of the original mudfort was undertaken by Raja Hira Gowda in the 17th century around 1670 AD. An interesting incident prompted the Gowda family to considering building a fortress.     Halebidu is a town located in Hassan District, Karnataka, India. Halebidu was the regal capital of the Hoysala Empire in the 12th century. It is home to some of the best examples of Hoysala architecture. Most notable are the ornate Hoysaleshwara and Kedareshwara temples.
