Netherlands Castle Chateau Marquette Noord-Holland Heemskerk Landgoed Château Marquette
Around the Chateau Marquette is a beautiful country estate where you can walk. Six acre estate, surrounded by a protected nature reserve. This protected breeding meadow birds, but also Nile geese and Canadian geese favorite place to stay. There have even been spotted spoonbills. Foxes visit this area is really like .Chateau Marquette has a wonderful long driveway with trees and stately in the distance you see the castle lie. It is unfortunately not to visit. The estate is a hotel located in an old farmhouse (expanded and modernized) in the direct vicinity of the castle. It is possible to enter the castle to marry and then the party there to celebrate. The guests can then stay overnight at the hotel. The gate of the Chateau Marquette is on the left to see a beautiful coach house with shutters .

Rondom het Château Marquette ligt een prachtig landgoed waar je heerlijk kunt wandelen. Zes hectare landgoed, omgeven door een beschermd natuurgebied. Hier broeden beschermde weidevogels, maar ook Nijlganzen en Canadeze ganzen verblijven hier graag. Er zijn zelfs lepelaars gesignaleerd. Vossen bezoeken dit gebied dan ook erg graag.Château Marquette heeft een prachtige lange oprijlaan met statige bomen en in de verte zie je het kasteel liggen. Het is helaas niet te bezichtigen. Op het landgoed is een hotel dat zich bevindt in een oude boerderij (uitgebreid en gemoderniseerd) in de directe nabijheid van het kasteel. Het is mogelijk om in het kasteel te trouwen en daarna het feest daar te vieren. De gasten kunnen dan in het hotel blijven overnachten.Voor de poort van het Château Marquette is aan de linkerkant een prachtig koetshuis te zien voorzien van luiken.
2005 Wassenaar en omgeving
Wassenaar is een plaats en gemeente in de Nederlandse provincie Zuid-Holland. De gemeente telt 25.881 inwoners (1 april 2011, bron: CBS) en heeft een oppervlakte van 62,50 km². Binnen de gemeentegrenzen liggen geen andere kernen. De gemeente Wassenaar maakt deel uit van het kaderwetgebied Haaglanden en de Metropoolregio Rotterdam-Den Haag.

Gemeente Best in Noord Brabant
BEST wordt voor het eerst genoemd in 1307 : in een document staat te Best wart (richting Best).
In 1437 waren er 1360 inwoners; nu (2011) 28.800 inwoners.
Het STATION BEST ziet er prachtig uit.
Het spoor is sinds 2002 ondergronds. De spoorlijn is er al sinds 1866 en heeft Best steeds in tweeën gedeeld.
De boogvormige bouw van het station symboliseert de hereniging van beide delen van Best.
Ook is er nu geen geluidhinder van het drukke treinverkeer.
Het huidige GEMEENTEHUIS te Best dateert van 1962.
In 1910 was er tegenover het oude raadhuis een roomboterfabriek DE BESTE BOTER van Adrianus de Wert (1875 -- 1922). Er werd boter geproduceerd en ook werd er boter omgepakt die elders was ingekocht. De boter werd over de hele wereld verzonden, bv Rusland en Zuid Amerika.
De fabriek streefde naar hoge kwaliteit en was modern. Men had ook eigen koeling en maakte ijsstaven voor ziekenhuizen. De fabriek wekte in 1917 al zijn eigen elektriciteit op. Dit werd ook aan het gemeentehuis geleverd.
De Beste Boter had de eerste telefoonaansluiting van Best.
Momenteel is hier het winkelcentrum de BOTERHOEK, met het beeld het BOTERMANNEKE, dat aan het karnen is.
Heel toepasselijk speelt het CARILLON elk uur Ik ben met Catootje naar de botermarkt geweest.
SINT ODULPHUS is de beschermheilige van Best. Hij is geboren in Best. Op deze plaats is de St ODULPHUSKERK gebouwd. Het is de enige kerk in Nederland die bij de geboortegrond van een heilige ligt.
De bouw van deze neo-gotische kerk begon in 1880. De kerk is 55 m lang, de nok van het dak is 23 m hoog en de torenspits met haan is 64,60 m hoog. Dat is 5 m hoger dan die van Oirschot.
Bij de bevrijding sneuvelde de TORENSPITS van de St ODULPHUSKERK.
Er werd in Best hevig gevochten. Op 17 okt 1944 beschoten de Duitsers de kerktoren, die als uitkijkpost door de Schotten werd gebruikt. Een voltreffer raakte de spits, waardoor deze totaal werd vernield.
In 1960 werd de torenspits herbouwd.
VILLA DE ZONNEHOEK was de woning van Arnold (Noud) de Wert, de zoon van Adrianus de Wert (de grondlegger van de boterfabriek en de steenfabriek). Het huis is van 1933 en is onlangs grondig gerestaureerd.
Ook de MOLEN de Volharding is prachtig gerestaureerd. De gemeente heeft café de Mulder gekocht, zodat nu de wieken kunnen worden gemonteerd en de molen weer kan gaan draaien als vanouds.
De KLOMPENMAKERSVAKSCHOOL werd opgericht om de kwaliteit van de klompen te verbeteren. Voorheen leerde men het van een oudere knecht.

Deze werd in 1936 door brand getroffen.

De ARMHOEF, Oirschotseweg 117.
De oudste boerenstal van Nederland en de oudste bestaande hoeve in Best. Zij wordt al in 1312 in een leenboek van de hertog van Brabant genoemd.
Aan de bouw van de Armhoef is te zien dat het woonhuis hoger is dan het stalgedeelte. De verhoging dateert vermoedelijk uit de 17de of 18de eeuw.
De St ANNAKAPEL te AARLE werd pas in 1837 in steen opgetrokken.
St Anna is de moeder van Maria, St Joachim de vader.
BEST ZOO. Sinds 1930 is er al een dierentuin in Best.
JOE MANN.
Bij de slag om Best vielen enkele honderden slachtoffers. Het bekendste slachtoffer is ongetwijfeld Joe Mann.
Deze Amerikaanse parachutist was betrokken bij de verovering van de brug over het Wilhelminakanaal.
Zeer tot de verbeelding spreekt zijn moed om zich op een granaat te werpen om zo met zijn lichaam, het leven van zijn kameraden te redden.
Voor deze daad kreeg hij posthuum de hoogste Amerikaanse militaire onderscheiding: de Medal of Honor.
Het monument is geplaatst in de directe omgeving van de Wilhelminabrug, aan de Boslaan-Zuid te Best.
De schoenenfabriek BATA is van oorsprong Tsjecho-Slowaaks, opgericht door Thomas Bat'a in 1894.
BATADORP is in 1934 gebouwd, opdat de medewerkers dichtbij de fabriek konden wonen. Er werden 130 woningen gebouwd, alsmede scholen en een medische dienst.
Hard werken, orde, netheid, hygiëne, maar ook ontspanning waren bij de Bata belangrijk.
De huizen hadden destijds al een badkamer, stromend water, gasverwarming, elektriciteit en een tuin. De woningen waren hun tijd ver vooruit.
Vanwege de netheid hadden ze een plat dak, want op zolder zou toch alleen maar rommel worden opgeslagen.
Momenteel maakt BATA speciaal schoeisel, zoals veiligheidsschoenen. In Best is nu het hoofdkwartier van de BATA.

Gopi Talav Located at the Gopipura area of the Old City Surat Gujarat
The lake was built by Malik Gopi, the Governor of Surat in 15th century (1510 AD).
Lake has historical importance, Emperor Akbar Set Up his Military base came on the banks of Gopi Talav in 1573.
During the Mughal Empire there were many lakes built in the city but with the modern development some lakes were forgotten and lost with the construction made on it.
Gopi talao also lost its glory, time passes and water of the lake gopi totally dried up.
But 515 years after it was built, Surat's forgotten lost lake Gopi Talav is all set to regain its glory.
Surat Municipal Corporation has decided to recreate the lake again with its historical Glory.
The project cost of 20 crore and spans on area of 100000 (1 lakh) square meter.
Water from Tapi River through 1.5 km pipelines to fill up this huge structure that is 212 meters in diameter and is about 12 meters deep.
Gopi talav will have capacity to store 1.5 crore liter water once the project is totally completed
.
Makeover of the gopi talao has seven recreation zones.
Old step-well remains as it is, diamond corner with a fountain plaza, textile zone, senior citizen corner, kids section, food corner for “Surat nu jaman” And future zone includes an Amphitheater at an environment zone, the latest I-max theater,Snow Park and laser show will be the major attractions.

Day three: Chad, Gloria and I went to Ancient Thira. The road leading to the top was closed so we left Gloria at the bottom and hiked 40 minutes the top. The road was windy and the further up the mountain we climbed the windier it got. When we got to the top we walked around the ancient ruins. It was very windy. We saw an old village, the city center, a church, and a gymnasium. Afterwards we headed up to Fira, the capital, and along the way we stopped at Art Space, a winery converted out of an old cave lined with a wide range of artwork. An older Greek man gave us a very detailed tour of his two wineries, a traditional one and a state of the art one. He told us everything about making wine start to finish. After the tour we sampled two white wines, two reds and tsikoudia. Chad really liked the tsikoudia, a very strong wine containing 47 percent alcohol. We continued onto Fira and had a picnic lunch on the side of the road over looking the port just outside the city center. After lunch we walked around and did a little shopping. THAN Chad and I took a donkey ride down to the old port. It was his first time riding an animal and my first time riding a donkey. Going down 500 stairs on the back of a donkey is enough to make anyone nervous, especially when every few feet the donkey's knees were buckling. The whole time I was too nervous to take pictures because I was white knuckling the saddle. Chad thought his saddle was going to slid to the underbelly and he would fall off the donkey so he spent most of his time holding on too. Going back up was a lot smoother and you could actually enjoy the scenery. There were two cruise ships in the port, and looking up in the cliffs and seeing the white house topple over the edge with their blue roofs was breathtaking. Afterwards we drove along the beach and stopped to watch some kite boarders and the wavers crash up against the jetty. At some points in the road we saw on our left was the beach and our right we saw high sand stone cliffs. Than we went back to the good heart to buy more goodies. We walked in and she had already put together a plate for us. Between the two of us, we bought one of everything in the store. Next we headed home and went out to dinner to a meze place. This meze was different than other meze places because you got to pick what you wanted. We had a village salad, goat cheese stuffed white eggplant, fried tomato patty, grape leafs and stuffed calamari. The grape leaves came with a pile of sour cream, which Chad claims he doesn't like. He took a bite of it and was like yum what is this and when I told him what it was he said no that's not it because I don't like that. He also tried the eggplant stuffed with goat cheese, (he also claims he doesn't like goat cheese) and one his last bite he remembered it was goat cheese (he still claims he doesn't like it but I saw him lick his plate clean). After dinner we had the same 47 percent wine Chad bought today but this was sweetened with honey and cinnamon, therefore easier to go down and colored on the table. It was a full moon tonight and the moon just lite up the sky, I have never seen a moon so bright.
