U-thong or Ramathibodi I was the first king of the kingdom Ayutthaya , reigning from 1350 to 1369. He was known as Prince U Thong before he ascended to the throne in 1350. He was thought to have been a descendant of Mangrai.Ramathibodi I established four Great Officers of State. These were the Ministry of the Interior , the Ministry of the Treasury , the Ministry for the King's Household , and the Ministry of Agriculture . He also codified the T'ai laws.     The Ayutthaya Kingdom was a Siamese kingdom that existed from 1351 to 1767. Ayutthaya was friendly towards foreign traders, including the Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Indians, Japanese, Koreans, Persians, and later Spaniards, Dutch, English, and French, permitting them to set up villages outside the walls of the capital, also called Ayutthaya. In the 16th century, it was described by foreign traders as one of the biggest and wealthiest cities in the East. The court of King Narai had strong links with that of King Louis XIV of France, whose ambassadors compared the city in size and wealth to Paris.
