Umphang is the southernmost district of Tak Province, Thailand, established by the Royal Decree Establishing Amphoe Umphang, BE 2502 , which came into force on 6 May 1959. The district is on the Thai-Burmese border. It is also the name of the town center of the district. Neighboring districts are : Amphoe Phop Phra; Amphoe Khlong Lan, and Amphoe Pang Sila Thong of Kamphaeng Phet Province; Amphoe Mae Wong and King Amphoe Mae Poen of Nakhon Sawan Province; Amphoe Ban Rai of Uthai Thani Province; and Amphoe Thong Pha Phum and Amphoe Sangkhla Buri of Kanchanaburi Province.     The Thi Lo Su Waterfall is claimed to be the largest and highest waterfall in Thailand. It stands 250 metres high and nearly 450 metres wide on the Mae Klong River, flowing down from Huai Klotho into the Umphang Wildlife Sanctuary in Tak Province in northwestern Thailand.The waterfall has apparently never been surveyed, so the figures given are approximate.
