Volgograd Oblast is a federal subject of Russia, located in the Volga region of Southern Russia. Its administrative center is Volgograd. The population of the oblast was 2,610,161 in the 2010 Census.Formerly known as Stalingrad Oblast, it was given its present name in 1961, when the city of Stalingrad was renamed Volgograd as part of destalinization.     Ilovlya is a river in Saratov and Volgograd Oblasts of Russia. It is a left tributary of the Don River, and is 358 kilometres long, with a drainage basin of 9,250 square kilometres . The average discharge is 9.6 cubic metres per second . The river is frozen over from December to March. In earlier times there was a portage here, between the watersheds of the Volga River and Don River.
