The weather in the UK can vary from day to day. Warmer and hotter months are between April to September. Colder months with snow,sleet and rain are between October and March. Time Difference
During the winter months, Britain is on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), which is 5 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time and 10 hours behind Sydney. Western standard time is five hours behind.
From late March until late October, the clocks go forward one hour to British Summer Time (BST).

Britain is officially metric, in line with the rest of Europe. However, imperial measures are still in use, especially for road distances, which are measured in miles. Imperial pints and gallons are 20 per cent larger than US measures.

Carlisle is a city and the county town of Cumbria. Historically in Cumberland, Carlisle is also the administrative centre of the City of Carlisle district in North West England. Carlisle is located at the confluence of the rivers Eden, Caldew and Petteril, 10 miles (16 km) south of the Scottish border. Carlisle is the largest settlement in the county of Cumbria, and serves as the administrative centre for both Carlisle City Council and Cumbria County Council.
Carlisle became an important military stronghold; Carlisle Castle, still relatively intact, was built in 1092 by William Rufus, and once served as a prison for Mary, Queen of Scots. The castle now houses the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment and the Border Regiment Museum. In the early 12th century, Henry I allowed the foundation of a priory in Carlisle. The town gained the status of a city when its diocese was formed in 1133, and the priory became Carlisle Cathedral.
The introduction of textile manufacture during the Industrial Revolution began a process of socioeconomic transformation in Carlisle, which developed into a densely populated mill town. This, combined with its strategic position, allowed for the development of Carlisle as an important railway town, with seven railway companies sharing Carlisle railway station.
Nicknamed the Great Border City, Carlisle today is the main cultural, commercial and industrial centre for north Cumbria. It is home to the main campuses of the University of Cumbria and a variety of museums and heritage centres. The former County Borough of Carlisle had held city status until the Local Government Act 1972 was enacted in 1974.

The City of Carlisle is a local government district of Cumbria, England, with the status of a city and non-metropolitan district. It is named after its largest settlement, Carlisle, aka Carlizzle, but covers a far larger area which includes the towns of Brampton and Longtown, as well as outlying villages including Dalston, Scotby and Wetheral. The city has a population of 107,524 and an area of 1,039.97 square kilometres (402 sq mi), making it the largest city in England by area (although the majority of its territory is not urbanised, but rural).
The current city boundaries were set as part of the provisions of the Local Government Act 1972, and cover an amalgamation of two former local government districts—the City and County Borough of Carlisle and the Border Rural District of Cumberland. The City of Carlisle shares a border with Scotland (to the north), and is bounded on the southwest by the borough of Allerdale, and on the south by the district of Eden. The county of Northumberland is to the east.
Although the present boundaries date to the 20th century, the city traces its origins to a 1st-century Roman outpost associated with Hadrian's Wall. The Brythonic settlement that expanded from this outpost was destroyed by the Danes in 875. Thereafter the region formed part of the Southern Uplands of Scotland, until colonised under King William II of England in 1092. William II built Carlisle Castle, which houses a military museum. Carlisle Cathedral, founded in the 12th century, is one of the smallest in England.
A border city, and the second most northerly city in England, Carlisle predominantly spans the flood plain of the River Eden. Commercially, it is linked to the rest of England via the M6 motorway, and to the Scottish Lowlands via the A74(M) and M74 motorways.

Our First Business” Trip to Carlisle, Cumbria | Day 1 | Cumbria UK || Tinny's ESCAPES Vlog

This is an old vlog I made when my business consulting team (BTS Consulting) went to Cumbria for our very first business trip to do the sites inspection and our primary research for our master's consultancy project. (Oh my! I just realised how fat I was before I lost my weight now T.T) It is divided into 2 vlogs, while this is for the Day 1 of our trip. To gather the latest and sufficient information to develop our recommendations for the organisation we work for, our team decided to travel to most of the major towns in the Cumbria region.
We stayed one night at the Cornerways Guest House in Carlisle, Cumbria. The guest house owner is so friendly and the rooms are clean and cosy. During the day, we had our lunch at an Italian restaurant called Sotto when we just arrived there. The food is a bit pricey but it is quite delicious. After that, we walked around the Carlisle city centre to do our research and met with our mentor, Dr.Leslie for beers. We also visited the Carlisle Cathedral, which is a medieval Cathedral that is located in North West England and, standing on the border with Scotland for almost 900 years, it is worth for a visit and the entrance is free. We also went to another restaurant called The Pompeii Steakhouse for dinner and back to our accommodation afterwards.

Britain's LEAST used train station revealed - but just how many people DO use it.Barry Links between Dundee and Carnoustie had just 24 passengers entering or exiting in 2016-17.But even that is an improvement on 2002-03 when only eight passengers used it - excluding season ticket holders.The unstaffed station has one train a day in each direction and no ticket office, ticket machine or toilet but it does offer bicycle storage facilities.In contrast, the busiest station was London Waterloo with 99.4 million passengers in the past year.This marks an increase on 2015/16 or more than 250,000 for services between London and the south coast.London Victoria was second on 75.8million with Birmingham New Street the only station from outside London in the top 10, with 42.3million which put it in sixth place.Glasgow Central retained its position as Scotland's busiest station, with passengers using it 32 million times, and Cardiff Central was top in Wales with more than 12.5 million entries and exits.In total, there were more than 2.9 billion entries and exits at all rail stations in Great Britain in 2015/16, an increase of 0.4 per cent on the previous year.Other little used stations include Teesside Airport with 30 entries and exits, Breich in West Lothian (48), British Steel, Redcar (50), Kildonan in the Highlands (76) and Reddish South in Stockport (94).Shippea Hill in Cambridgeshire was the least used station in 2015/16, but publicity of the figures led to its usage jumping from 12 to 156 passengers.Details emerged days after Transport Secretary Chris Grayling announced his plan to reverse some of the controversial Beeching Cuts which shut down thousands of miles of railway track in the 1960s.He hopes to reopen some of the lines to help cope with rising demand on the railway and to unlock sites for housing and business.
Finding Fort Mansfield, Westerly RI
I absolutely love the beach and the feelings of peace it evokes and this explore definitely fed that desire to be near water even if it was only about 30 degrees out. The fort is located at the very end of a long sandbar, about a mile and a half walk one way. The fort isn’t one of the largest I have seen yet still incredible to see. I just may have enjoyed the trip to get here as much as the destination. Get up, get out and as always..... Happy Exploring
