Loi Krathong Wiang Pa Pao - 2011
Loi Krathong is the festival of lights in Thailand- on the day of full moon in the twelfth month of the traditional Thai lunar calendar, celebrated. It usually falls in November.
Here in Wiang Pa Pao the festival is celebrated without the tourists. This is particularly attractive because it is a traditional show. Rather, a family festival celebrating the joy and the end of the rainy season and also for the spiritual things of life leaves room. This all takes place in a very cheerful atmosphere. The processions are also competition for the most beautiful floats and this will be awarded.

The northern most province of Thailand, Chiang Rai is situated on the Kok River basin 416 metres above sea level. With an area of some 11,678 square kilometres. It is about 785 kilometres form Bangkok. Mostly mountainous, it reaches the Mae Khong River to the north and borders on both Myanmar and Laos.
The province is rich in tourism resources in term of natural attractions and antiquities, evidence of its past civilisation. It is also home to serveral hilltribes who follow fascinating ways of life. Chiang Rai is also a tourism gateway into Myanmar an Laos.
Chiang Rai is administratively divided into the following districts: Muang, Phan, Thoeng, Mae Chan, Mae Sai, Wiang Pa Pao, Chiand Khong, Chiang Saen. Pa Daet, Wiang Chai, Phaya Mengrai, Wiang Kaen, Mae Fa Luang, Khun Tan, Mae Lao, Wiang chiang Rung and Doi Luang.

Attractions on this route include the Mae Khachan geyser, hot springs and an old Cambodian-style temple in Thaweesin, Chiang Rai.
The Mae Khachan hot springs are located between kilometers 64 and 65 at Tambol Mae Chedi Mai, Wiang Pa Pao District in Chiang Rai province on the way to Chiang Rai from Chiang Mai.
The hot springs are very popular among both local Thai people and tourists alike on their way to either Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai.

Loy Krathong 2011, Pattaya Beach
