Gialousa is a town on the Karpass Peninsula, in Cyprus. In 2011, it had a population of 1,774. Gialousa is under the de facto control of Northern Cyprus. In 1960, the town had 2,538 inhabitants, of whom only one was Turkish Cypriot, the rest being Greek Cypriot. In 1973 the population was 2,460, all Greek Cypriots. When the Turkish and Turkish Cypriot forces reached the town in August 1974, the Greek inhabitants could not move to the south of the island, controlled by the Republic of Cyprus.
