Maine-Acadia National Park-TRAIL TO BUBBLE ROCK

Bubble Rock Hike - Acadia
Start of the hike
Acadia National Park in 4K - Bubble Rock and South Bubble Mountain!
Bubble Rock is arguably the best-known boulder in the entire state of Maine and one of the most visited spots in Acadia National Park. Perched precariously on the eastern edge of the summit of South Bubble, this giant geological feature is an excellent example of a glacial erratic, a huge rock that was moved here by the powerful action of ancient glaciers. Scientists estimate the rock originated some 40 miles to the north near Lucerne, its coarse-grained white granite differing markedly from the familiar pink granite of Mount Desert Island.
Bubble Rock and the 768-foot peak of South Bubble can be reached via the Bubbles Divide Trail and Bubbles Trail. The Bubbles trailhead and the parking lot is located on the Park Loop Road, just over a mile south of Bubble Pond and about 1.5 miles north of Jordan Pond House.
From the parking lot, Bubbles Divide Trail heads west, quickly crosses the Jordan Pond Carry Trail, and climbs easily upward on a wide, graded trail. The Bubbles Trail from North Bubble joins from the right, and the merged trails continue to the top of the divide between North Bubble and South Bubble. Here, Bubbles Divide Trail descends straight ahead, but you’ll bear left onto the Bubbles Trail for the top.
Ahead, pass a short spur trail on the right leading to a large boulder (not Bubble Rock) and a ledge outlook with a fine view of the long ridgeline of Sargent Mountain. Not far ahead on the main trail, break out of the tree cover onto the open summit. A short spur trail on the left leads downhill a short distance to the edge of the cliff and Bubble Rock. Atop South Bubble, just beyond the side trail to Bubble Rock, are wonderful views of Jordan Pond, Pemetic Mountain, Penobscot Mountain, as well as the ocean off Seal Harbor.
Moderate Hiking, 0.7 miles one-way

Bubble Rock Summit
Bubble Rock is a glacial erratic left on a mountainside in Acadia National Park, Bubble Mountain to be specific. This stone was carried from miles inland and left here when the glaciers melted leaving it perched precariously since the last ice age.

Cadillac Mountain | Sunset | In Acadia National Park
This was such an awesome experience at Cadillac Mountain! This is the first time I had ever watched a sunset on top of a mountain before and it was a perfect time to test it out. :) Beautiful evening although extremely windy, we watched the sunset and stuck around for some gorgeous views of the moon and surrounding area.
Cadillac Mountain has a ton of hiking trails, but make sure you get there early otherwise you might be battling over a parking spot!

Acadia
A year-long time-lapse project in Acadia National Park by 18 year old Will Greene. Started as a senior exhibition project at Mount Desert Island High School, the film spans four seasons with over 35,000 images and 36 hours worth of footage, all compressed into 5 minutes. My hope is that this film inspires others to appreciate and protect Acadia and the natural world as a whole.

Top 8 Destinations in Acadia National Park
Acadia National Park is one of the most incredible places you will ever visit. This national park is known by many as the crown jewel of the north atlantic coast. In this video, I want to share with you 8 of my favorite destinations within this park.
*UPDATE - I FORGOT ONE TOP DESTINATION!! BE SURE TO VISIT BAR HARBOR AS WELL FOR MORE MAINE CULTURE*
Bar Harbor Walking Tour Video:
Starting off with the first spot in acadia, Thunder Hole is an excellent location to see waves crash in to a hole in the rocks, where they make a thunderous boom and spash dozens of feet in the air. This is a destination in Acadia that does not require a hike, and instead can be reached via a parking lot across the road, or by taking the free Acadia National Park shuttle.
Secondly, make sure to stop by the Acadia National Park visitor center. I always recommend talking to a ranger or at least reading the signs in a visitor center so you can be aware of any closed trails, trail maintenance, dangers, as well as the positive things to look for like the history, geology, and biology of the park.
Destination number 3 is Gorham mountain trail, which brings you up to a 525 ft. elevation summit with spectacular views over the coastline. Unfortunately it was crowded during my visit, but this view was still impressive
The fourth destination is Bass Harbor Head Light (lighthouse) which is the iconic short red light house. This light house is historic and offers a beautiful view of the Maine coastline. this is a symbol of Acadia National Park and should not be skipped!
Be sure to indulge in the north atlantic costal culture with some fresh lobster purchased from a local fisherman. Be sure to not pay too much at mass retailers, and instead buy directly from the fishermen.
Destination five is Jordan Pond, Jordan House, and the surrounding carriage trails. These trails are perfect for hiking, biking, and exploring the beautiful nature without much strain. The pond and house offer unique scenerey, and a full service restaurant. If you are looking to go out to eat, I recommend either going to the Jordan Pond House, or perhaps Bar Harbor (
Destination six is Penobscot mountain. I chose the Jordan Cliffs hike to the peak because it is less crowded than Cadillac mountain, and offers an equally amazing view. If you are not up for this hike, you can drive to the summit of cadillac mountain on a non-crowded day (or early in the morning to be the first people in the US to see the sunrise!) Jordan Cliffs Trail is probably the most strenuous hike I encountered in Acadia, so be sure to only take this trail if you are an experienced hiker, and if the rocks are not slippery
Destination seven is a ride along park loop road. I recommend either rifding the free shuttle, or driving this loop to see most of the park
Number eight then is Bubble Rock. This iconic boulder balances on the edge of a cliff. Bubble rock was moved many miles by glaciers long ago and weighs more than two african elephants. This is a must-see and is only a 1 mile hike to the summit.
Thank you for watching!! I hope you enjoy your trip to Acadia National Park!
