Enchanted Waters
Eagle Nest NM is located off of US HWY 64 and is the home to Eagle Nest Lake which feeds the Cimarron River. 17 Miles away, over the continental divide lies Red River. Flowing west into the Rio Grande and down towards Taos. The Rio Grande cuts deep beneath the historic US 64 and Taos gorge bridge. Following US 64 west, through a deep canyon and again over the divide will lead back to Eagle Nest NM. This loop is called The Enchanted Circle. Around the entire loop you can find streams, rivers, and lakes of all sizes. We call these waters, that are life vein to everything around it, “Enchanted Waters”. We hope you enjoy

Cimmaron River below the dam at Eagle Nest Lake, NM
The Cimmaron River begins at the foot of the Eagle Nest Lake Dam. 2-1/2 miles of privately own land along the river make this quality trout stream an angler's best kept secret. Catch and release only. Stay in renovated cabins or in the main dam house built for workers when constructing the dam in 1907.

EAGLE NEST KOKANEE
Nestled in a scenic Northern New Mexico Valley, Eagle Nest Lake rests roughly 45 minutes from Taos and is the state's top kokanee fishery. While also known for trout, the reservoir boasts some of the fattest and largest kokanee in the Southwest and is a popular vacation spot for anglers from Amarillo, Texas and Albuquerque. At 8,200 feet, and the source of the Cimarron River, Eagle Nest Lake is a perfect family destination for anglers.
To film Pautzke Outdoors, we teamed up with local guide Danny Selman of Eagle Lake Marina (575) 377-6941 and trolled this high mountain lake with Arnie's spinners tipped with various colors of Pautzke Fire Corn. The result was 19-inch, two-pound kokanee and rainbows to four pounds.

Mountains on Hwy 64, Eagle Nest New Mexico
My iPhone4 is a piece of junk. Why was the volume so bad? (I didn't have my finger on the speaker.) Anyway, those mountains are not too shabby and MIGHTY PURTY!
Hiking the Clear Creek Trail Eagle Nest, New Mexico
In between Ute Park and Eagle Nest, New Mexico you can find the Clear Creek Trailhead.
Just look for the Colin Neblett Wildlife Mgmt sign along with the creek stream joining the Cimarron River on highway 64.
Its a good and mostly easy and relaxing hike with only a few difficult uphill sections.
Trail is easy to follow.
You’ll find quite a few waterfalls, tall tall trees and a fantastic time up in the mountains.

Cimarron, New Mexico
Still Camped out at the Golden Eagle RV Park, Eagle Nest, New Mexico, thought we we spend the day at the Wild West Town of Cimarron, New Mexico, but first Zack and I had to have a smoke with my pipe sitting by the fire. Then off we go. Had a wonderful time visiting the beautiful country side, the original Santa Fe Trail, the Philmont Boy Scout Ranch and the Beautiful St.James Hotel, where unfortunately dozens of men lost there lives over card games, Woman or whatever. You can still see the Bullet Holes in the walls and ceiling. Click on the link below if you want to learn more about the history of Cimarron New Mexico.
Hope you enjoy and don't forget to Subscribe if you like what you see. Thanks for watching.

The Last Run - Rio Costilla
Eagle Nest Fly Shack & Lodge members spent a day in the Rio Costilla - Valle Vidal capturing video of the Rio Grande Cutthroat before the upcoming fish kill that is scheduled in the first weeks of September. NM Game & Fish is making an effort to restore the Rio Grande Cutthroat and its habitat by removing the current fish living in these waters. Definitely a sad event to loose all these fish but we look forward to the future of the habitat
