Fruita Colorado McInnis Canyons Rattlesnake Arches
Just east of downtown Fruita lies the dreamscape of the adventurist, Rattlesnake Arches located in the McInnis Canyon National Conservation Area. Home to one of the largest concentrations of arches in the nation, Rattlesnake Canyon offers those adventurists looking for stunning memories. Each arch serves as a challenge to go further and discover more. This journey is demanding, as such, adventure-seekers should pack plenty of water and food to fuel their journey. Devil's Canyon to the San Rafael Knob
Just south of I-70 as you climb to the higher elevations of the swell we hiked when the road prevented further driving. From there we followed an ATV trail through Devil's Canyon Wilderness until reaching near the base of The Knob, the remains of a much larger mountain and highest point in the San Rafael Swell. My hopes to summit were dashed yet I still found the views exceptional. The highlight was seeing distant peaks to the west hover over the snow speckled desert like breaking waves. Filmed 4/10/13.
