MIROGOJ CEMETERY | DOLAC MARKET | ZAGREB, CROATIA
Mirogoj cemetery and Dolac market! What’s not to love about Zagreb?! ⇩Click to see more⇩
MIROGOJ CEMETARY: This place really takes you back in time. With the lovely large columns at the entrance, it’s pretty hard not to be mesmerized by this beautiful piece of architecture. As mentioned in this video, Miogoj is owned by the city, and has many different religious burials, from Jews, Muslims, Protestants, Catholics, etc. Not only is Mirogoj a cemetery, but it feels as though you are walking through a time machine, everything was preserved so well, I was really quite surprised. I can see why many famous Croatians are buried here. It is beautiful!
DOLAC MARKET: If you are only in Zagreb for a day or two, then I highly recommend visiting the Dolac market. They really give you a great feel for the Croatian culture in a short amount of time. My favourite moments had to be walking through the big red umbrellas seeing all the locals call out to each other. Also, people watching in the cheese section, seeing all the old ladies proudly selling their products, and to see the butchers cut meat to perfection. The cherry on top was at the end when all the old men gather in the bar afterwards for a cold brew. What a day! :)
If you know a friend who is travelling to Zagreb anytime soon, make sure to share this :)

I am visiting the top 10 tourist sites in Zagreb. So you can see them before you come. = )
From Wikipedia
Dolac (pronounced [dɔ̌lat͡s]) is a farmers' market located in Gornji Grad - Medveščak city district of Zagreb, Croatia. Dolac is the most visited and the best known farmer's market in Zagreb, well known for its combination of traditional open market with stalls and a sheltered market below. It is located only a few dozen meters away from the main city square, Ban Jelačić Square, between the oldest parts of Zagreb, Gradec and Kaptol. The Dolac market Zagreb is centrally located right behind the town’s main square.
The daily market, on a raised square a set of stairs up from Jelačić, has been the city’s major trading place since 1926. Farmers from surrounding villages come to sell their home-made foodstuffs and very fresh fruit and vegetables. In the covered market downstairs are butchers, fishmongers and old ladies selling the local speciality sir i vrhnje (cheese and cream). Flowers and lace are also widely available. Alongside, the renovated fish market, ribarnica, sells fresh produce every day but Monday.[1]
My name is Eric Clark and I am a world traveler. I have been around the world a few times and decided to help fund my travels by sharing my videos and pictures. I have been to almost every country and would be glad to give tips and pointers. Drop me a note. = )

Zagreb In Your Pocket - Dolac Market
Croatia is a country passionate about its produce, and nowhere is this more visible than at the farmers' market Dolac. Small producers from surrounding villages gather in this central food mecca to sell their leafy greens and fleshy meats, which are instantly snapped up. Find everything from turnips to bee pollen and unidentified seeds that promise to straighten out your digestive tract. Old cafés and randomly strewn bar stools (appearing deceptively free) surround the shopping chaos on the upper level; while the meat hangs below your feet, in Dolac's underground bunker along with fresh produce, cheese, herbs, nuts, loose grains, olives by the kilo...and much, much more. A separate fish room (amateurs prepare your nose pincers) and cheese room (likewise) will keep you wandering through this ultimate homage to all things edible, Dolac.

Dolac Market Zagreb - A Chef's Dream!
Before going to Zagreb, my research into Zagreb kept turning up this huge farmers' market in Zagreb. Yes, it is impressive and massive. But since I'm not a foodie I couldn't appreciate the thousands of fruits and vegetables being sold. If you like to cook, you'll love this.
